Meet Claire Orriss, Air BP’s Offer Development Manager for General Aviation based in Sunbury. She has worked for Air BP for 25 years.

Tell us a little about your role?

I listen to the needs of our GA customers and develop offers for them based on their feedback. At the moment, I’m heavily focused on developing a digital Marketplace offer together with RocketRoute.

What offers are you working on at the moment?

Through our collaboration with RocketRoute, our offers are being developed for the B2C Business Aviation and General Aviation into-plane segment. I’m also working on implementing a new venture through our strategic partnership with Victor where we are trialling an initiative which gives customers the chance to offset carbon emissions from their Victor-booked flights via BP Target Neutral.

What are the biggest challenges for the general aviation sector?

General aviation is a very fragmented sector – it covers large business jets, emergency services, offshore helicopters, private hobby pilots and the manufacturing and agriculture industries. The industry was hit hard by the global recession, with business aviation arguably suffering the most. This fact, combined with growing political instability, means many business pathways were blocked, and of course there’s still a lot of planning and paperwork involved in trip planning! Thankfully, we saw a slight upturn in business aviation this summer.

How is Air BP helping customers meet these challenges?

We are constantly meeting with customers and listening to their needs in order to create the right offers for them. Through the RocketRoute platform, we are bringing convenience to customers by enabling them to order fuel, ground handling and other services in one place quickly and easily on a mobile device or laptop. Customers can pay through their Air BP account or via credit card for the Air BP fuel. We’re introducing both new features and new suppliers to the Marketplace every single week.

What makes you proud to work for Air BP?

I am proud of Air BP’s appetite for innovation and drive for excellence, as well as the passion in the teams around our network and their focus on our customers.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I spend a lot of my time supporting the hobbies of my three children. I’m also extremely interested in travel and international cultures – I love visiting new places and am fortunate that my career with Air BP has taken me to all corners of the world!
