At the end of July, Air BP North America held its second successful GA Operations Seminar in Akron-Canton, Ohio (CAK/KCAK). Both our Akron-Canton and Grand Rapids seminars were very well received by customers which was reflected in the feedback. The objective is to demonstrate Air BP’s technical expertise in the North American GA market, in order to grow with existing and prospective customers. Given the feedback and acknowledgement from customers of the additional value the seminars bring, we’ll be organising more in 2018 and hoping to expand to other regions. Thank you to the entire team that contributed to the smooth execution of the 2017 seminars.
LABP (the joint venture between AirBP and Lotos in Poland) was delighted to sponsor Gdynia Aerobaltic 2017 in Gdynia, Poland, on 11-12 August. The outdoor event started in the mid-afternoon and featured aerobatic displays by local and international troops including FireFlies, Aerosparx and the Żelazny Group. It concluded late evening with spectacularly lit aircraft travelling across the night sky. Aimed at aviation enthusiasts and the country’s growing private aviation community, the event was attended by 200,000 people in total. LABP is looking forward to its continued involvement with the budding industry.
Last month, we also exhibited at the 15th Latin American Business Conference & Exhibition (LABACE), held in São Paulo, Brazil at Congonhas Airport (CGH/SBSP). Despite rain on all three days, it was an excellent show attracting a good crowd. It was terrific to meet so many of you on our stand as we discussed all the latest news from the region including our recently launched, RocketRoute MarketPlace app.
Elsewhere, we were the official fuel sponsor for the Rand Airshow, which took place on 20 August at Rand Airport (QRA/FAGM) in Germiston, South Africa. We hosted 98 guests at the Air BP VIP marquee, including customers and stakeholders from across the aviation industry. Our General Aviation Manager in South Africa, Zamambo Mkhize, welcomed guests with gifts as part of Air BP’s 90th birthday celebrations, and we also sent goodie bags to the Airport to share with an orphanage of its choice. Air BP has been the official fuel sponsor for Rand Airshow for over ten years. We continue to be committed to aviation in Africa and as reported in the July issue, we recently sponsored the Airlink Adrenalin Airshow at Wonderboom Airport in Pretoria.
Air BP is also proud to have continued its sponsorship of Roskilde Airshow, the largest of its kind in Denmark, into 2017. The show took place from 18-20 August 2017 at Roskilde Airport (RKE/EKRK), a Sterling Card location, giving us a chance to meet with valued customers, including flying schools. This July, Air BP introduced UL91 fuel at Roskilde via a 24-hour self-serve facility, meaning SC holders now have access to all three grades of fuel at the airport.
This month, Air BP Italia is excited to support Aero Club Como's Six Lakes Air Rally (Giro Dei Sei Laghi) for the third year running which will take place between 22-24 September. The unique event will see crews flying amphibians and seaplanes as they fight for the winning title in their respective categories surrounded by Lake Como's beautiful scenery. After an initial contest in 1913, the event was put on hold for an entire century before being re-introduced in 2014. Since then, it has become recognized as a national competition. Good luck to all competitors!
Another excellent event taking place soon is the Air Charter Expo (ACE) at London Biggin Hill Airport (BQH/EGKB) on September 12. We will be getting behind the British business aviation industry once more as Gold Sponsors at what is set to be a very worthwhile day. ACE provides great networking opportunities where business aircraft owners, pilots, and you, our customers can meet with suppliers of all kinds. If you are flying in to Biggin Hill, you can use your Sterling Card to purchase fuel.
