The Red Bull Air Race returns to Austria

The Red Bull Air Race World Championship returns to its Austrian roots this month with round six of the Championship taking place in Wiener Neustadt from 15-16 September.

August marked the end of the summer break for Red Bull Air Race pilots as they returned to Kazan in Russia for the second half of the season. Congratulations to Czech Republic pilot, Martin Sonka, who following his success in Budapest in June, took the win once again in Kazan. This month’s event in Wiener Neustadt celebrates 15 years since the Red Bull Air Race series began in Austria. With just three races left in the season, it will see 14 of the world’s best pilots make their late-season bids for the official World Championship.

Vienna International Airport (VIE/ LOWW) is a great base to fly in and out of if you’re planning on watching the Red Bull Air Race this month. Located just 63km from Wiener Neustadt and 17km from Vienna’s city centre, it’s open 24 hours and Jet A-1 is available. For full details on this location click here.

Looking back at LABACE

We loved seeing so many familiar, as well as new, faces at the Latin American Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition (LABACE) in São Paulo last month. The show was a huge success and provided us with the perfect opportunity to present our pioneering carbon offsetting programme for business aviation in Brazil.

How does our carbon offsetting programme work? It enables you to offset emissions related to the use of aviation fuel by purchasing carbon credits from carefully vetted projects around the world that already have reduced emissions. The programme is in line with our commitment to achieving a lower carbon future and its introduction in Brazil builds on initiatives we have already implemented in other regions around the world. Brazil’s executive aircraft management company, Avantto Aircraft Administration, signed up to the scheme in June. And we’re looking forward to supporting other organisations as they look to reduce and offset their carbon emissions in line with ICAO’s ambitious targets of achieving carbon neutral growth by 2020.

Join us at AAD in Africa.

We’re delighted to be sponsoring the Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD 2018) expo, which will be held at the Waterkloof Air Force Base in Pretoria, South Africa, from 19-23 September. The bi-annual event will attract global leaders from across the aviation industry, as well as government officials and senior procurement officers.

The event is comprised of a three-day trade exhibition followed by a two-day air show.

As well as sponsoring the event, members of our team will be joining some of the panel discussions and our local team will be on hand to update you on all the latest news from the region including our recent collaboration with Vivo Energy and our low-carbon initiatives. We will be exhibiting, so drop by and say hello.

If you’re attending the event, Rand Airport (QRA/FAGM) in Johannesburg is just over 60km from Waterkloof Air Force Base. Both Jet A-1 and Avgas are available at Rand, which is open from 07.30 – 17.00 Monday to Saturday. For more information on this click here.
