Our team in Australia recently attended the national convention held by the Regional Aviation Association of Australia (RAAA) on Queensland’s Gold Coast. We took the opportunity to showcase our market-leading network of locations in the region, as well as to highlight some of the new locations such as Essendon Fields Airport (MEB/YMEN) in Melbourne. We also demonstrated the capabilities of the RocketRoute Marketplace and highlighted Air BP’s global environmental offer using virtual reality goggles. A flying display by Red Bull Air Race pilot Matt Hall was also a highlight, with the low-level passes disrupting the concentration of the golfers on course!
On 8 November, we supplied biojet to our customers during ‘Fly Green Day’ at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD/KORD). The event was organised by U.S. advanced renewable fuels company Gevo, Inc. in collaboration with the airport to help boost the commercialisation of biojet, and marked the first time biojet was delivered via the airport’s existing fuelling infrastructure to customers. Air BP worked with Gevo to bring a demonstration batch of biojet produced from bio-isobutanol (an alcohol derived from renewable feedstocks) to customers at the airport.
We had a wonderful time welcoming faces both old and new at our booth during the 2017 Dubai Airshow, which took place in a purpose-built hall at Dubai World Central Airport (DWC/OMDW) from 12-16 November. This year saw a 20% increase in trade visitors compared to 2015, with 79,380 people attending the show – which racked up an order book of US $113.8 billion – during its five-day run.
