Last month we were in Budapest as part of our role as the official Fuel and Carbon Reduction partner of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship. As the fourth and one of the most popular stops on the race calendar, thousands of spectators lined the banks of the Danube to watch the race. Budapest is unique as pilots begin their run by flying under the iconic Chain Bridge. The action was spectacular. The race was won by Kirby Chambliss from America. Well done Kirby! We enjoyed meeting some of you during the event and received great feedback from those of you who took part in the behind the scenes Red Bull Air Race experience.
On 23rd July, our team at Dubai International Airport (DXB/OMDB) proudly refuelled, 29 year old Captain Shaesta Waiz’s Bonanza A36 aircraft as part of her 2017 ‘Dreams Soar’ round-the-world tour. As the sole supplier of Avgas 100LL at DXB, we were delighted to help out. The tour aims to raise awareness for the need for greater access for girls and young people to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) education and to inspire female pilots. It covers 30 stops in 18 different countries. When Captain Waiz touches down at her final stop, Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB/KDAB), she will become the youngest woman in history to embark on and complete a solo round-the-world flight. Good luck Captain Waiz!
Also in July, our North American team successfully completed its first ‘2017 GA Operations Seminar’ after six months of planning. The day-long session, which took place at a customer’s facility in Grand Rapids, MI, focused on industry updates in the North American GA markets, Storage and Handling and Maintenance and Truck receipt. Customer feedback was very positive, with Rob Cummins from Travel Management claiming: “It was the best operations seminar he has ever attended among all the major competitors in the US market.” We’ll be organising more seminars in 2018 so watch this space for further details.
