We are now only open for roles in UK, US and Germany. We have closed for applications to all other roles.

Start date: June 2018 with flexibility to join the programme two months either side of June.

As a world leader in the oil and gas industry, BP operates at every stage of the energy lifecycle. In this highly competitive and constantly changing global market, we need leadership to help us stay ahead of the industry.

Our Future Leaders Programme (FLP) is an international 4-year rotation programme which takes enthusiastic, talented people from a range of professional backgrounds and gives them the skills and opportunities to drive our Downstream business forward. You will be a permanent employee from the day you join us.   The programme consists of 2, 24-month rotations within one of our distinctive capability areas, your second rotation could be international depending on your development requirements and BP’s business needs

Our global programme will make the most of your potential, talent and experience. All whilst giving you the skills and opportunity to lead BP into the future and develop your own long-term career. We’ll ask you to share your ambitions, strengths and ideas, so together, we can tailor the best development programme to suit and stretch you.

Your mentor will guide and support you on your journey. You’ll be given real responsibility plus exposure to our business and the global energy industry. What’s more, you’ll be part of a close, supportive Future Leaders Programme community with plenty of networking opportunities.

We review applications in the order they are received so we strongly encourage early applications for the Future Leaders Programme.

Downstream

Our Downstream business is the product and service-led arm of BP, focused on fuels, lubricants and petrochemicals worldwide. You could develop a career supplying, trading, refining, transporting, manufacturing or marketing our products.

Our Future Leaders Programme matters to us and is exactly that: a structured approach to developing talented men and women with a global mindset who are our leaders of the future. Bringing great people into BP at an early stage of their careers and with wide-ranging experiences is a key part of our talent strategy. By building on those prior experiences in a structured way, we aim to maximise the potential of these people to be great leaders in our businesses for years to come.
Evelyn Gardiner, Head of HR Downstream

FLP programme is an amazing programme that brings a group of enthusiastic and ambitious talents together and opens the door of opportunities for individual growth, skill sets and good experience in our Downstream business, which gets me prepared for my long-term career. Aida

I am currently working on a strategic project for the company. It’s a three year strategy for the Castrol auto service channel. The fact that the company has given me the opportunity to do this after just three months means a lot. BP really want to empower their people.
Aida Elbouanani, Key Account Manager, UAE

Robin

As a member of FLP, you get lots of opportunities to talk to many different teams within BP, so I have been fortunate to be able to work with the venturing team. It’s fascinating to see how they deploy capital to benefit the wider business, and potentially the whole world.
Robin Zhu, Project Engineer, Canada

Alix

FLP give you an amazing opportunity to develop. People trust and believe in you and they’ll do whatever they can to help you grow into the organisation. The HR team is very supportive as is the FLP community. People here are also very approachable.
Alix, FLP, Chicago

Emily

Previous to working for BP, I was a professional athlete for 13 years. BP really optimised the same values and behaviours that I look to in sport and I see these in everyday life at BP – people live and breathe the values. To be on the BP programme is a honour; it’s an amazing programme. Fewer and fewer corporations are investing like BP is in development. BP create opportunities for growth and expanded learning and broaden your spectrum of skills and what you bring to the table.
Emily, FLP, United Kingdom
