What we do
BP in Canada focuses on in-situ development of energy from Canada’s oil sands, located in north-eastern Alberta. Tapping our vast experience in producing oil and gas from reservoirs in offshore environments, we are also pursuing opportunities in the Beaufort Sea and Nova Scotia. Our IST business spans the country and makes us one of the top oil and natural gas marketers and traders in Canada. In everything we do, the safety of people and operational excellence set the agenda. Compressed schedules and flex days
Employees in the upstream business in Canada follow a 9/80 work schedule, which consists of 9-hour days on Mondays through Thursdays.
Every other Friday is an eight-hour day and the alternate Friday is a day off. In addition, the upstream business offers three flex days per calendar year. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved at BP, socialize with colleagues and learn from them. Besides wellness events and volunteer opportunities, we hold various social club events and offer discounted tickets to a variety of events around Calgary.
Employees in our IST business work a Monday-to-Friday schedule and are eligible to take 11 flex days per calendar year.
