BP STEP program

Applications open January 1 – March 1

The BP STEP (Shaping Talent, Energy and Potential) program provides a unique opportunity for Engineering students to gain real-world leadership skills and valuable insight into the energy industry.

What to expect

During the program you will:

  •  Network with BP executives, employees and current interns.
  •  Engage in leadership workshops.
  • Meet like-minded engineering students from across the country.
  • Apply your technical skills and engineering knowledge toward real business issues to find solutions through a team case competition.
  • Receive an all-expense paid trip to BP’s US Headquarters in Houston, TX.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for this program you will:

  • Be a first or second year undergraduate student.
  • Preferably be majoring in Engineering.
  • Have a qualifying 3.2 GPA.

We’re looking for students who demonstrate high potential, have strong academic and extracurricular backgrounds and who have a well-articulated interest in BP and our industry.

Sophomore experience

Applications open January 1 – March 1

The Sophomore Experience program is an exciting, all expenses paid, week-long program that delivers a unique opportunity for you to learn about life in BP’s Supply & Trading Organization. Supply & Trading is the commercial face for BP, and provides commodity trading, risk management and information technology skills for the business.

What to expect

Experience is gained through a mix of:

  • Presentations.
  • Hands-on trading demonstrations.
  • Case studies.
  • Networking and evening events around Chicago and Houston.

 

Eligibility criteria

To qualify for this program you will:

  • Be a second year undergraduate student (between sophomore and junior year during the summer).
  • Have the qualifying 3.2 GPA.

BP Scholars program

BP knows you’re the future of the energy industry. That’s why we’re looking for high-achieving candidates to join our scholarship programme. 

If you want to pursue a career in one of the areas below, you could be awarded a $5000 BP scholarship towards your undergraduate studies. We’ll also offer you the opportunity to visit one of our offices so you can experience at first-hand what life’s like at BP and gain a different perspective of the industry.

Eligibility criteria

To be considered as a BP scholar, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree majoring in science, technology, engineering, math or business areas of study at one of our core or specialist universities.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative 3.2 GPA requirement or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • To be selected as a BP scholar, candidates must complete an online application form and virtual interview. All applications will be evaluated based on academic record, essay response, work experience, demonstrated leadership and community/extracurricular involvement.
