What we do

BP Shipping is the oldest continuous business unit in the BP group, moving BP’s oil and gas across the world’s oceans

Celebrating its centenary in 2015, BP Shipping is the oldest continuous business unit in the BP group, moving BP’s oil and gas across the world’s oceans.

We have a key role to play in the delivery of BP’s objectives. Beyond our existing responsibility for managing BP’s shipping risks, we are required more and more to support our BP partners turn new opportunities into realities.

We enable competitive advantage for BP by managing shipping risks and delivering innovative and agile marine solutions.

Each year, BP Shipping transports more than 200 million metric tonnes of hydrocarbons on water and completes around 6,000 voyages. We provide safe and compliant vessels for the transportation of BP’s hydrocarbons, using both BP-operated and third-party vessels which have been approved for BP use in accordance with BP’s stringent health and safety, and quality assurance standards.

Around 41 vessels belong to the BP Shipping fleet as well as a number of chartered vessels, either for a specific length of time or for a single voyage.
