Vetting and clearance

As BP looks more and more to projects that require marine expertise, the importance of maintaining a quality portfolio of vessels, along with leading marine safety standards and capability, is greater than ever. 

With approximately 85% of our cargoes being carried on third party operated vessels, how do we satisfy ourselves that these high standards are met?

The answer is a rigorous ship vetting programme for use of third party vessels. The ship vetting team assesses ships based on a range of criteria, including management, operations, crewing and structural standards.

It’s a strict process that we’re extremely proud of and one which influences the whole industry.
