The evening opened with a welcome from Jin Hu, the China lead for BP Ventures, and was followed by David Gilmour, who offered an overview of the global investment portfolio for BP Ventures, including the key investment areas.
Sophia Nadur gave an in-depth view of BP’s Mobility Strategy: to become a leading provider of integrated mobility solutions for a future world with a focus on electrification. One of these partnerships includes a new joint venture with DiDi to develop a network of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging hubs across China.
To finish the evening Ethan Zhu, CEO of PowerShare, gave an insight into being BP Ventures’ first direct investment in China. The partnership was announced in January 2019 and sees BP Ventures invest in one of China’s leading providers of an EV charging platform. The partnership has seen many advantages including an increase in growth and knowledge, and helps to drive the agenda of a low carbon future for China.
