Job summary

Acts as the focal point on all GBS related services accounting services for all the Fuels and Lubricants businesses, excluding HVC related activity, The role is also accountable for the Lubricants business service excellence reviews. The role is responsible for the end to end accounting activity, including general accounting for the Fuels and Lubricants businesses. Ensures that full GBS performance is reported on a monthly basis to the Fuels and Lubricants businesses, with reporting accountability to both the Lubes and Fuels Finance LT. Focus on ensuring delivery of all GBS activities as well as strategic and project management aspects of the Lubes and Fuels businesses, and ensures fit for purpose back office services in support.

Accounting and Reporting Accountabilities

  • Own accountability for the implementation and management of end-to-end Finance processes, including Lubricants costing and facilitating an interface between the GBS, embedded finance teams and businesses.
  • Co-ordinate the monthly clearance of the Fuels business and Lubricants business results, working in collaboration with the GBS Service delivery departments (MI team, O2C, P2P, HVC,etc)
  • Drive performance against key management metrics and goals supporting a process excellence focused service center and co-ordinate quarterly review meetings with Fuels and Lubes Leadership teams.
  • Develop and continuously improve end-to-end core accounting processes
  • Coach and mentor staff as part of building and leading a high performing team
  • Establish and maintain accurate and up-to-date desk level procedures and ensure teams follow operational procedures that provide control and operational flexibility and appropriately protect the company’s assets in relation to Blendcor
  1. Ensure key financial reporting processes interfacing with GBS are understood by the GBS team, are robust and provides reasonable assurance over the accuracy, validity and completeness of financial results reported by GBS (including product costing)
  2. Participate in Quarterly reviews with the board sub-committee to gain assurance on the health of financial processes in Blendcor
  3. Could inform and participate in ARC reviews from time to time, led by the ARC team and as allowed by the NOJV agreement
  4. Could engage on key matters from time to time where issues are noted, as allowed by the NOJV agreement (such as the specific work conducted recently to understand the state of balance sheet reconciliations)
  • Partner with the Optimisation and Commercial Team
  • Drive process optimization and digitization on Finance process as it relates to ARC General accounting

Business Relationship Accountabilities
  • Function as primary interface between the business partner and the GBS Africa team in resolving issues and queries, but ensure accountability at the Functional level
  • Facilitate the resolution of issues in a timely manner in collaboration with the GBS Africa Service Delivery Leads
  • Establish and maintain key stakeholder relationships to proactively manage organization performance and resolve escalated and systemic issues
  • Business Account Management accountability for GBS Africa as it relates to Lubes
  • Manage day-to-day operational and service-oriented relationships with internal BP and internal GBS customers
  • Provide regular operational performance updates to executives, along with recommendations for management action
  • Provide Governance and root cause analysis
  • Ensuring robust and tested BCP plans exist to ensure proper risk mitigation and planning is in place

Business processes accuntabilities throughout GBS Africa
  • Attend all GBS commercial performance global calls and communicate actions required
  • Ensure quality control on Lubes and Fuels businesses Service Delivery PPIs
  • Consolidation of Partner Value Statements and timely distribution thereof
  • Manage the quarterly MI submissions and any points of clarity requested
  • Issue timely FTE reports, scorecards and dashboards feeding into the central team
  • Focal point for GBS Africa on Lubes and Fuels business development projects and resulting GBS Support required

Education and Experience Requirements:
Education- Qualified CA

Experience
  • Min10 years of experience (post articles) in management accounting and/or finance dealing with performance and financial issues
  • Risk assessment and internal control processes and management experience
  • Financial modeling, financial forecasting and reporting experience
  • Understanding of the key systems, processes, resources and dependencies of the department/business area to update at process tower level: Business Impact Analysis and Risk Assessment (determine the key Business Continuity risks)

Grade GResponsible for managing a team to deliver accounting and reporting services and ensure the integrity and effectiveness of accounting policy application, internal control, financial reporting, accounting systems support and delivery of end-to-end financial accounting processes, implementing continuous improvement plans and managing conformance to internal and external requirements.
