Job summary

bp is looking for a self-motivated and team-oriented individual to join a small team of aviation technical experts who deliver day to day technical aviation support to our global and regional entities. This team is responsible for systematically identifying aviation safety hazards, assessing risk, and implementing and maintaining risk reduction measures to bring consistency and rigour to bp’s management of aviation risk.

The role will be UK based either Sunbury or Aberdeen though international and offshore travel will be required (up to 25% of the time).

About the role:

In this role you will be primarily responsible for supporting oversight of contracted and managed aviation services and supporting regional Contract Accountable Managers and operational teams in managing and monitoring aviation risks.

Some of your key accountabilities and deliverables will include:

• Ensuring that aviation services are contracted and managed in accordance with Group, Business Group, Operational, Sub-functional and Regional requirements.
• Providing aviation technical support to the Group.
• Supporting the development of Global and Regional aviation strategies.
• Supporting regional CAM, Job Reps and operational teams in managing and monitoring aviation risks and providing aviation SME technical advice.
• Undertaking or supporting regions in accident and incident investigations with a focus on establishing root cause and applying preventative strategies to mitigate future events.
• Advising on technological and innovative concepts to decrease risk and increase performance through proactive internal and external engagement.
• Contributing to and / or supporting solutions that enable the company’s aim of delivering renewable energy and Net Zero targets.

About you:

You will be a Certificated Airline Transport Pilot, Maintenance Engineer, or National / Military Aviation Authority equivalent and will preferably hold a University Degree in a relevant subject area.

It is also essential that you are able to demonstrate:

• Extensive aviation and logistics experience.
• Extensive safety leadership experience.
• Experience in aviation risk management.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Experience in strategy development, contracting, and contractor performance management.
• Due to the requirement to travel offshore it is essential that you are also able to complete a physical fitness assessment and any required offshore training.

It would also be beneficial if you have any of the following:

• Aviation Risk Management Training.
• Aviation Root Cause Analysis Training.
• Aviation Audit experience.
• Aviation Operations experience.
• Safety Management Systems experience.
• Aviation Surveyor experience.
• Aviation Asset Technical Management experience.
