Job summary

  • Member of the Castrol HSSE&C Agile flow to work pool
  • Provides expertise to ensure that HSSE&C risks within the Castrol Business are identified, assessed and effectively managed.
  • Provides HSSE&C support, and facilitates access to HSSE&C expertise, to allow the Hub to effectively meet regulatory, legislative and BP requirements within manufacturing and other Hub operations.
  • Intervenes and escalates as appropriate to cause corrective action when HSSE&C performance and/or OMS conformance is not at desired levels.
  • Drives consistency and a common approach where it adds value, and provides optimum performance in service of the HSSE&C agenda.
  • As a member of the Hub HSSE&C LT contributes to the development of local HSSE&C plans, policies and programmes.
  • Supports communication and Advocacy work in Japan

Key Accountabilities

  • Using Agile techniques where appropriate, supports the Castrol organisation in delivering specific programmes to drive HSSE&C performance and Continuous Improvement
  • Using Agile techniques where appropriate, Defines and Implements corrective action when HSSE&C performance and/or OMS conformance is not at desired levels
  • Supports the Implementation of the HSSE&C plan to ensure delivery of the Global Castrol HSSE&C strategy and ensuring BP requirements are met.
  • Supports the relevant leaders to ensure relevant HSSE&C employee and stakeholder communications and awareness programs is developed and delivered
  • Proactively influences and directs the key leaders to ensure compliance with all applicable HSSE&C legislation.
  • Supports the leaders in country to implement the HSSE&C plan to ensure delivery of the Global Castrol HSSE&C strategy and ensuring BP and SPU HSSE&C requirements are met.
  • Proactively influences and directs the key leaders within the organisation to ensure their compliance with all applicable HSSE&C legislation and to ensure the consequences of non-compliance are understood
  • Ensures that leaders are aware that HSSE&C risks should be considered and incorporated into the decision making process with respect to operational projects, in particular identifying and recommending mitigations for key risks
  • Supports leaders to implement the HSSE&C systems, processes and tools necessary to ensure delivery of OMS, HSSE&C policies and standards, GDPs (e.g. CoW, Risk, C&CM) and Cyber Security Agenda.
  • Proactively influences the relevant leaders to ensure relevant HSSE&C employee and stakeholder communications and awareness programmes are developed and delivered, using agile where appropriate.
Job Holder Requirements
  • University degree (or equivalent work experience). Formal HSE&C qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma) or graduate degree in HSE&C desirable
Added Skill/Requirement
  • Deep / Modarate HSSE&C knowledge within an international business environment, Strong generalist HSSE&C background and experience. Knowledge of Plant operational and technical environments desirable; proven ability to think both operationally and strategically.
  • Must be a proficient dual language speaker and writer – English and Japanese to enable all aspects of this role to be fulfilled including the communication and advocacy component.
