Job summary

We are seeking a highly motivated, self-starting engineer with a growth mind set and track record of exceptional delivery in a dynamic work environment. You will work across the Permian Business unit to support continuous improvement efforts to drive efficiency, productivity, optimization, and quality by assessing, prioritizing, and leading continuous improvement projects that derive the greatest value to the business. This is an excellent broadening opportunity for an I&C or Automations engineer looking to broaden their skill sets into production operations, data science, and operations IS systems development.

Key Accountabilities

Embrace and pioneer the Intelligent Operations model, cultivating an interdependent culture and a relentless pursuit of continuous improvement through effective root cause analysis.
Take in feedback from across the operations organization and develop or improve information systems tools to enhance team capabilities
Take initiative to identify new opportunities for improvement utilizing data sets to identify trends and areas in need of RCFA’s and/or a continuous improvement project
Develop project plan and ensure performance metrics are collected, tracked, and reported on a consistent basis
Oversee and lead projects for improvement across all levels of the organization
Support, coach, and champion growing organizational capabilities associated with organizational continuous improvement
Travel to the field approximately 25 percent of the time to meet with key partners regarding product development.
Drive production efficiency and process safety improvement by actively supporting operations with Management of Change, HAZOP / LOPA, design reviews, and procedure development.
Lead and cultivate the relationship between engineering and field operations to identify systematic improvements and eliminate repeat failures.
Participate in risk assessments inclusive of HAZOP / LOPA to eliminate personal and process safety risks through effective implementation of the hierarchy of controls.
Work closely with maintenance and operations teams in performing RCFA and defect elimination to continuously improve facility reliability and integrity management.
Provide positive leadership while being a team player, and share lessons learned across disciplines and between business functions.

Essential Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, finance, or STEM related field
Essential Experience and Job Requirements:

5 years minimum experience in oil and gas or similar industry
Experience in electrical, instrumentation, or controls engineering preferred
Bachelor of science degree in a mechanical or chemical engineering
Track record of success in a dynamic work environment
Embraces change and fosters innovation while maintaining rigorous processes
Ability to spend 25% time in the field with the team focused on safety leadership and execution performance
Desirable criteria
In addition to the essential criteria & qualifications the successful candidate is likely to be able to demonstrate:
  • Motivated, self-starter enthusiastic about affecting change to drive upstream innovation
  • Ability to collaborate and build alignment with individuals and within multi-discipline teams.
  • Comfortable using SQL Server and data visualization software like Power BI
  • Familiar with one or more scripting languages like Python
