Digital Customers & Markets (DCM) works with customers & products (C&P), gas & low carbon energy (G&LCE), trading & shipping (T&S) and regions, cities & solutions (RC&S), and focus on enabling and delivering amazing customer experiences that generate value for bp in current and new markets.
DCM Intelligent operations (IO) bridges the gap between bp’s physical and digital worlds to release value and enable world-class operations through deployment of new and emerging digital solutions. Our SMEs and partners work closely with our business units to ensure safe, efficient, and optimized operations and great customer experiences.
At DCM IO we have embarked on a very exciting journey with a pipeline of leading-edge programmes of work in the field of automation, Internet of Things (IoT) and Edge Vision to name a few. We are building platforms for the future and products focused on these technologies and more. We plan to build a Centre Of Excellence (COE) in Pune that will build and house essential digital capabilities, innovative solutions, toolsets required to deliver products for our customers thereby driving bp’s digital agenda.

Control Systems Integration Engineer will work with a team creating software for bp colleagues and external users. Control Systems Integration Engineer will work with a team creating software for bp colleagues and external users. Key Accountabilities:

  • Work with the industrial sites to understand existing data availability
  • Support the implementation of new, or update of existing, control systems to improve data availability
  • Review control system functions with your software engineering and architecture peers to identify business opportunities and implement software components, services and applications
  • Assess, recommend, test, source (working with procurement) appropriate sensors & gateways that can be used to transmit data from sites to cloud based IOT platforms
  • Help to design, develop and test custom software applications
  • Own delivery of the control system engineering elements of the projects including design documentation, acceptance testing requirements and maintenance procedures
  • Generate ideas for product innovation using your knowledge of emerging control technologies.
  • Define hardware standards for sensors and edge devices to be used with IOT platforms
  • Integrate yourself in the team’s innovative and fast paced product delivery culture that uses Agile methodologies.
  • Interact with control and automation engineering experts in Innovation & Engineering to ensure product ideas algin with bp standards and approved practice and assure product quality
Essential Education:
  • Bachelor and/or master’s degree in engineering or related discipline relevant to control and automation engineering.
Essential Experience and Job Requirements:
  • Experience working with large scale, process industry DCS, PLC/SCADA control systems either in an operational role or as part of a supplier configuration and deployment team.
  • Experience working with a variety of industrial communication protocols for data and information exchange
  • Experience in the design and operation of data historians (continuous and alarm & event)
  • Working knowledge of the design and maintenance of systems in accordance with international standards for cyber security
  • Understanding of PFD, P&ID’s and instrument datasheets.
  • Strong analytic skills and logical reasons
  • An effective communicator with experience working remotely with global colleagues and customers
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Desirable criteria:
Desirable criteria are those that may enable the candidate to perform better & qualifications or require a shorter familiarisation period. During the selection process evidence should be sought to gain an understanding of the extent to which candidates who satisfied the minimum criteria demonstrate the desired criteria for the role. This evidence will then allow differentiation between the candidates and form the basis for selection.
  • Chartered engineer or registered professional engineer
  • OSISoft PI data historian experience
  • DCS experience: ABB, Emerson, Honeywell and Yokogawa
  • SCADA experience: AVEVA Wonderware/System Platform, Citect/Plant, OASys/Enterprise. Rockwell FactoryTalk, Siemens WinCC
  • Experience developing commercial software applications
  • Knowledge / experience of AWS/Azure IoT
