Job summary

Responsible for delivering strategy architecture and planning activities for the specialism, supporting related operating practices and processes and effective implementation of relevant standards, liaising with stakeholders and providing advanced knowledge and advice to support wider business goals. Specialisms: Segment Architecture; Enterprise Architecture; Solution Architecture; Strategy.

Role synopsis
Architecture is a collaborative discipline, and it plays a critical role in the integration of our businesses. Architects connect all the digital disciplines and the consumers and procurers of IT, in order to create an integrated, flexible, effective IT architecture for bp. This role will focus on our B2B portfolio of Customer and Product portfolio and will need experience of delivering scalable Architecture of Programmes around Supply Chain, Manufacturing, B2B and B2C Integrations.

Key accountabilities

  • Architecture: You rigorously develop solution architectures, seeking practical solutions that optimize and re-use capabilities. You will care passionately about the integrity of the Digital capabilities you develop. You will be responsible for designing and building solutions that best meet the business needs and are aligned with the Digital strategy and roadmaps.
  • Technology: You are an excellent technologist and have a passion for understanding and learning. You will contribute to digital transformation initiatives from an architectural perspective, facilitating the delivery of solutions. You will bring good hands-on skills in key technologies, and an ability to rapidly assess new technologies with a commercial mindset.
  • Safety and Compliance: The safety of our people and customers is our highest priority. You will advocate and help ensure our architectures, designs and processes enhance a culture of operational safety and improve our digital security.
  • Team: You will play an integral role in building the team’s skillset while demonstrating your leadership values through delegation, motivation and trust. You will not just lead, but "do".
  • Relationships: You will build strong relationships across the business and Digital teams. You will understand the long-term needs of the solutions you are developing, and enable delivery by building a rapport with team members both inside and outside of BP.

Essential Education
  • A Bachelor's (or higher) degree, ideally in Computer Science, MIS/IT, Mathematics, hard science or equivalent work experience.
Desired Experience
  • Architecture experience of delivering Projects/Programmes across Digital Supply Chain, Digital Manufacturing, B2B and B2C integration domains
  • Good blend of Functional domain knowledge and Technical expertise across the business capabilities Order to Cash, Finance, B2B Commerce, B2B Marketplace, B2B2C business models and external partner ecosystem touchpoints
  • Architecture experience across Packaged Application portfolio (SAP, JD Edwards, Salesforce) and Technology Platforms (AWS, Azure)
  • Architecture experience of delivering scalable Customer / Consumer facing Portals, Platforms, Solutions and Mobile Apps working with multiple technology portfolio and multi-partner environment
  • Ability to perform Solution Comparison, solution alternative analysis and putting forward recommendations to Senior Leaders across Business and Technology
  • Experience of performing Application/Technology Rationalization analysis and roadmap
  • Ability to develop Baseline Architecture, Reference Architecture, Transition Architectures and Transformation Roadmaps
  • Strong track record of delivering composable Architectures around API, Cloud, Microservices, AI/ML and Automation
  • Good command across different domains of Solution Architectures like Business, Data, Application, Technology, Integration and Security to ensure they are blended into the Architecture and are Future Proof
  • Develop and manage platform architecture through its lifecycle, drive reference models, reference architectures, technical design, design patterns, reusable frameworks, and best practices with the goal of providing solutions to products and programs that will reduce total cost of ownership, service delivery cost, and increase Customer/Consumer satisfaction.

  • Demonstrated experience of leading Architecture for a complex Business/Technology Portfolio cutting across different business segments/business models and ability to drive sponsorship across diverse stakeholder groups with strong Stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to conduct rapid assessment of diverse technology landscape including Buy vs Build direction and create credible Technology Architecture roadmaps to drive sponsorship and endorsement with diverse Stakeholder groups
  • Knowledge of Automotive Service Maintenance and Repairs business processes will be an advantage
