Job summary

Responsible for managing a team to deliver construction projects and programmes in compliance with applicable regulations, permits, licenses and stated legislative requirements with an efficient balance of cost, quality and time, and supporting continuous improvements in all operations in order to maximise the value of BP's retail network.

Purpose of role:

This Deputy Operations Director is focusing on the development of site assets & engineering department, improve site efficiency and playing a significant role to build BP brand positioning through our service stations network both in the Guangdong province and in support of BP Retail business across China.

Key Accountabilities

  • To be a member of the JV Management Team with a responsibility for leading JV team of engineering and existing assets monitoring, to ensure 400+ retail sites operating in a good and compliant conditions.
  • To be a primary person responsible for HSSE and Internal Control performance of assets and people under his/her coverage.
  • Provide Ethic and compliance leadership to ensure compliance and brand reputation.
  • Supervising the team to develop and implement engineering model for both construction and maintenance to continuously drive site quality with an efficient manner, along with rigorous contractor management and safety management.
  • Carryout ongoing network risk management to resolve and mitigate state risks including but not limited to contract disputes, license compliance, external uncertainties etc.
  • Apply judgement to solve sophisticated challenges across real-estate and engineering projects
  • Lead the relevant annual budget effectively, to ensure efficient and cost-effective maintenance, which aligns with agreed JV procedures as well.
  • Leading routine performance management of retail sites operation and maintenance efficiency, which driving continuous improvements in site operations and maintenance excellence.
  • Balancing the short term and long-term benefits from not only financial perspective, but also from brand reputation, Ethic & Compliance and relationship management.
  • Handle the sophisticated relationship between various internal and external partners, which includes landlord, vendor, government office, JV shareholder partner, etc.
  • Support on ad hoc JV strategy transformation projects which assigned.
  • Develop JV team capabilities and build a healthy talent pipeline in responsible scope.

Educational background

  • Bachelor degree+, qualified in Business or related field.

Experience

  • 10+ years of relevant business experience, retail industry is preferable.
  • A good track record in leading a diverse team, JV management experience would be highly regarded.
  • Experience in end-to-end project management, i.e. engineering projects or business projects.
  • Deep commercial knowledge and strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong influencing and relationship leadership skills, capable of dealing with a joint venture organization, experienced in dealing with partnerships both internally and externally and with people of different levels.
  • Good understanding of budget management, cost control and performance management.
  • Track record of achieving strong results
  • Proficient in English speaking and writing
