Job summary

ROLE SYNOPSIS

Architecture is a collaborative discipline, and it plays a critical role in the integration of our businesses. Architects connect all the digital disciplines and the consumers and procurers of IT, in order to create an integrated, flexible, effective IT architecture for bp.

The activity for this role is the lead for the architecture of the bp Digital Workplace. This is a predominantly Microsoft based architecture (with limited best of breed solutions to deal with weaknesses of the core platforms) using 365 and associated products for collaboration and voice, and a windows 10 fleet of some 50,000 laptops along with Windows Virtual Desktop, a Bring your own device offer for end user compute, and industrial device management for operational sites. We run the technology in a global building estate across 80 countries including Microsoft Teams based office collaboration technologies and are increasingly driving to support the needs of hybrid working and analytics on the use of our physical offices with space booking and occupancy management systems in deployment.

The specific expertise for this work within Architecture Discipline :-

  • Advanced knowledge of Office 365 Tenancies and Azure AD – preferably at Administrator level
  • Must have in depth knowledge of the Microsoft Teams platform and how it integrates with other applications on Office 365.
  • Preferably experience developing Apps for Teams utilizing development techniques such as custom connectors, tabs, and messaging extensions
  • PowerShell, Javascript (frameworks).
  • Verbal and written communication skills including presentations, chairing meetings, workshop facilitation, business and technical document writing
  • Experience of working with stakeholders up to senior levels
  • Practical working knowledge of the end to end Solution Lifecycle Development process
  • Understanding of SharePoint Online / Office 365 and Hybrid integration between Online and On-premise.
  • Low / no code development knowledge of how to utilise the Power Platform to develop Business Applications and processes integrating with other apps on Office 365 such as SharePoint and Teams
  • Understanding of modern device management, inTune and deployment methods
  • Understanding of MS VDI offiers, capabilities and deployment
  • Understanding of Agile Delivery methods
  • Understanding of platform hosting models and environments
  • Ability to lead distributed delivery teams
  • Project delivery, management of scope and user experience driven approaches to design
  • Ability to pursue, investigate and resolve technical issues

FORMAL EDUCATION
A Bachelor's (or higher) degree, ideally in Computer Science, MIS/IT, Mathematics, hard science, or equivalent work experience.
