Job summary

Responsible for managing a team and delivering Engineering Leadership through provision of technical expertise to projects or operations, including maintenance, inspection and turnaround, recommendation of technical solutions and management of engineering studies and risk assessments, driving integrated and pragmatic solutions, whilst assisting in implementing engineering technical practices for the business to advance the technical integrity of assets.

About the role:
The Engineering Manager is responsible for managing a team and delivering engineering leadership through provision of technical expertise to projects or operations, including maintenance, inspection and turnaround, recommendation of technical solutions and management of engineering studies and risk assessments, and driving integrated and pragmatic solutions.
The Engineering Manager will be leading all technical projects elements, addressing engineering design and technical studies. This role will manage a team of technical package managers, in a coordinated design approach, while efficiently managing interfaces. You will lead on all technical tender elements, defining specifications, work scopes and RFQs, reviewing bids and selecting suppliers, in coordination with the project team. You will also work closely with the consenting team to ensure technical inputs are provided at the correct stages of the consenting process.
Key accountabilities:

  • Provide input into the project financial models covering yield, CAPEX and OPEX budgets to optimise the project business case.
  • Participate in risk management activities, alongside reviewing technical inputs to the project risk register.
  • Coordinating technical specialists and developing project documentation.

About you:
A degree educated or above, or professional qualification, in a relevant discipline is required. Experience is what matters most. Extensive experience across offshore wind projects, ideally with a background from utilities, OEMS, developers or consultancies. Previous experience including Deputy / Engineering Manager or as Foundation, WTG, OSS, or Electrical Engineering Manager.

It is important you have:
  • In depth understanding of technical project elements, with a particular focus on engineering and design for construction.
  • Senior management experience withing the offshore wind industry, reporting into project leadership.
  • Skills to communicate complex technical information in a manner understandable by all.
  • Ability to build and maintain supplier and technical partner relationships.
