Job summary

Location: Bochum

The Europe & Africa Customers Procurement Advisor plays an important role in realising bp Procurement’s aspiration to deliver a world-class service to Customers & Products (C&P) business. This role acts as the business interface to business stakeholders in the C&P business. They are accountable for ensuring business stakeholders’ satisfaction with Procurement’s service and its outcomes across the end-to-end procurement lifecycle.

This role supports the Senior Manager in partnering with the business to understand business priorities and objectives, and acts as a champion for business needs within a Procurement context. As well as meeting business requirements, this role is wired into the business, helping to shape and drive the business agenda, identifying impactful opportunities for Procurement to deliver value to the business and positioning these opportunities for the Supply Facing (SF) Category and Sourcing & Contracting (S&C/GBS) teams to further develop or enhance.

The responsibilities also include regional coordination for a particular category (starting with Retail Assets) and strategic regional projects that go across several categories.

Your tasks:

  • Proactively building mutually effective working relationships with and engaging in dialogue with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders for ideas and feedback
  • Leading & supporting the procurement interface on a day-to-day basis supporting the senior manager on partnering with senior business stakeholders by:
    • reviewing existing scope & specifications driving value engineering and TCO/revenue approach
    • represent procurement at business management review & planning meetings and participating in key decision-making forums
    • support performance alignment and reporting against annual targets to business stakeholders including finance
  • Co-lead demand management & execution:
    • understanding business objectives & priorities, capture & challenge business needs, translate them into procurement activities
    • provide insight on the demand to the SF category and S&C/GBS teams while translating SF strategies back to business stakeholders as required
    • drive alignment on resources and priorities across teams to enable aligned execution of the demand
  • Orchestrate delivery of (regional) projects & initiatives adding value in achieving the bp strategy and ambition by acting as connectors/integrators between internal and external (if required) stakeholders
  • Leading agreed elements of supplier (performance) management to support SF category teams including issue resolution from both (country and/or regional) suppliers and business
  • Assure the integrity of all purchasing measures regarding policies, processes, tools and standards of bp
Our requirements:
  • University degree in a technical or related equivalent business discipline or comparable degree program and MCIPS/ISM qualification desirable (CPM, CIPS, APICS, ILDM etc.)
  • Procurement experience (sourcing & contracting, category management, supplier management)
  • Preferably procurement experience in categories like retail assets, convenience retail and retail & payment technology
  • Preference for strong (commercial) experience in the Fuels retail & convenience business
  • Excellent stakeholder influencing and commercial negotiation skills
  • Programme management experience and ability to manage virtual teams to drive execution of value delivery opportunities
  • Good knowledge of regional business, operational and planning/implementation processes
  • Empowering, developing and trusting people to work according to agile principles
  • Fluent English and German language skills.
