The hydrogen mobility business supports our long-haul, heavy-duty customers with a hydrogen offer that delivers them the best, decarbonized, total cost of operation (TCO) solution.

The role will lead commercial business execution. It will drive all aspects of supply chain and hydrogen refueling stations development and deployment. It will work with existing internal businesses for hydrogen supply and customer interfaces.

External commercial relationships will be important -- with partners, customers, and numerous other stakeholders including governments and regulatory bodies. Commercial negotiation and planning will be a focus of the role, including deal structure, boundaries, and governance.

Internally, this role will be expected to influence and lead across a broad number of stakeholder groups including: customers & products, strategy & sustainability, gas & low carbon energy, innovation & engineering, communications & advocacy, trading & shipping, as well as multiple supporting functions.

The dynamic nature of the hydrogen mobility business will require the role to be able to work at pace with ambiguous information, and the ability to influence decision-makers at all levels.

The role is also responsible for setting up future growth of the hydrogen mobility business, including resourcing and capability, financial forecasting, and creating business plans

Your main tasks:

• Develop projects, including execution through project management, for the delivery of hydrogen infrastructure and associated commercial deals
• Co-ordinate all relevant commercial and project activities
• Identify and manage project risks
• Ensure continued strategic alignment and maximise value from the entire, integrated value chain
• Lead and support deal and project delivery teams to liaise with originators and other project managers to support the development of projects and business prospects
• Set external negotiating strategy and boundaries
• Build capability for the future
• Own budgets and scaleup scope
• Drive internal governance processes
• Undertake project management role on some transactions
• Work alongside the engineering team for cost and schedule
• Live bp's Code of Conduct and model bp's values & behaviours

Our requirements:

• Ideally a degree in a relevant technical, finance, or business discipline or equivalent experience
• Knowledge and understanding of the energy or mobility sector
• A post-graduate MBA or equivalent would be advantageous
• Demonstrated visionary with ability to think big picture, looking beyond normal and navigate to delivery
• Ability to energize others to support delivery objectives
• Well-developed teamwork and interpersonal skills, working with diverse teams
• Resilient and able to adapt and remain motivated when faced with ambiguity
• Dynamic and flexible, and adaptive to change
• Strong leadership skills
• An ability to build networks to enhance effectiveness and share knowledge
• Ability to build trust and confidence to support efficient progress with action items
• Experience working on projects at various stages of development, including feasibility and concept selection
• Exposure to project financing, including preparation of financial models
• Understanding of steps required for development of projects from concept into operations
• Ability to challenge conventional methods of working, examine multiple options and take on innovative and new solutions
• Strong performance bias: the ability to deliver with attention to detail under tight timelines and to prioritise effectively
• Written and oral fluency in English and German
• Excellent organisational, planning, written and oral communication skills, and an ability to communicate effectively with decision-makers and non-specialists
• Experience in the energy industry in either an engineering, commercial, or consulting role(s)
• Experience of working on energy or related projects
• Any technical or commercial experience working in hydrogen in mobility, especially supply chain and hydrogen refueling stations will be very highly regarded
• Current business networks within hydrogen/hydrogen mobility
• Working experience within project finance, debt advisory, partnerships or M&A in infrastructure or renewables
• Knowledge of bp business processes
