Job summary

Bp is looking for a self-motivated IT/OT Systems Engineer to join our Solutions Engineering team - a global engineering team covering a wide range of disciplines and supporting bp’s worldwide Production and Refining portfolio.

Within Solutions Engineering is the Instrumentation, Control and Electrical (ICE) team that provides expertise in the areas of process control & automation, instrumentation & SIS, and electrical systems.

About the role:

This role will be hosted in the Control and Automation subdiscipline team, working closely with Automation Systems Security team and I&E digital teams. However, the role will functionally report to the Integrated Engineering Solution Delivery Unit within bp Solutions Engineering, Maintenance & Reliability function. It supports Asset Health Management initiatives delivered by the Equipment Strategy Optimization, Equipment Health Monitoring and Unit Health Monitoring squads.

The initial focus will be to support the Equipment Health Monitoring squad which is key to supporting equipment reliability improvements. The role provides an excellent opportunity to continue to develop technical expertise as well as collaboration and influencing skills to solve complex problem. Additionally, this is an opportunity to building a worldwide network inside and outside bp.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated and able to work virtually within a global team, is familiar with bp and industry standards and regulations, enjoys deployment of new technology, and embraces continuous improvement in operations.

Some key accountabilities will include:

  • Acting as bpSolutions digital security & IT/OT interfacing SPA for Asset Health Management Systems
  • Collaborating with digital teams develop standard system architectures
  • Developing and own the standard scope of services to operate and maintain the IT/OT monitoring infrastructure
  • Actively participating in the Automation Systems Digital Security community of interest
  • Supporting asset SPAs with system performance monitoring (e.g. KPIs, self-verification, etc.)
  • Tracking conformance and gap closure against company requirements
  • Providing input to engineering procedures and practices
  • Developing and/or providing input on best practices and engineering practices
  • Providing technical guidance for 3rd party resources

About You:

In addition to holding a Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline, it is essential that you are also:

  • Familiar with relevant internal and industry standards for IT/OT integration
  • Capability and confidence to engage with subject matter experts
  • Fluent in English - written and oral

It would also be beneficial if you have:

  • Ability to engage and influence multidiscipline teams to deliver engineering improvements
  • Ability to communicate clearly across the organisation
  • Ability to work independently as well as within agile team framework
  • Experience with process automation systems in the oil and gas or chemical industry
  • Experience with managing digital security risk for operating assets
  • Experience with designing and maintaining IT/OT interfaces
  • Experience with deploying and supporting digital monitoring solutions (i.e. Pi, System1, AMS, Wireless solutions, handheld solution, etc.)
  • Experience with cloud and data lake architectures
