About Us

The Operational Excellence Lead will support the operational risk management activities of bp’s refined products and low carbon trading business for our legacy and emerging portfolios. The group’s accountabilities include the identification & tracking of operational risk events & takeaways, root cause analysis, assessing gaps, and recommending enhancements. In addition, the Operational Excellence Lead will support the broader team’s focus on continuous improvement and innovation programs; and the development of tools and accelerators to enhance the group’s ways of working.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the review, documentation, analysis, and dissemination of lessons learned from operational risk events related to bp’s refined products and low carbon trading business.
  • Analyze operational risk events for patterns, correlations, and insights that could lead to better controls, systems, processes, and ways of working.
  • Prepare materials and facilitate discussions in operational risk committee and leadership forums
  • Work with and assist cross functional teams on assurance & governance related activities, such as: delegations of authority; system access; due diligence for new business; risk policy reviews; regional sub office reviews; and post implementation reviews.
  • Work with IT & data science teams to deliver operational risk management solutions.
  • Support the broader Operational Excellence & Transformation team’s continuous improvement and innovation initiatives.
Job Competencies
  • Familiarity & understanding of Energy Risk Management Framework, Processes, Analytics, Controls & Industry Practices
  • Proficiency in performing data analysis and preparing reports using tools such as Excel, VBA, Power Automate, SharePoint, Trading & Risk Management systems.
  • Excellent writing, presentation & facilitation skills.
  • Good project and partner management skills.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in the Energy Commodity Trading & Risk Management space. Familiarity with Oil & Refined products; and Low Carbon Trading a plus.
