Job summary

Responsible for providing project engineering expertise for delivering a substantial subset of a moderately complex project and directing contractors and for cross-discipline coordination with other project team members to drive integrated technical integrity of the project and to complete assigned work activities across all phases of the project are delivered in accordance with BP, HSSE, and ethical standards and in compliance with all relevant statutory requirements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Be an active and influential member of the Joint Venture organisation to support the development and construction of the project
  • Bring relevant and appropriate bp knowledge to the JV
  • Provide appropriate level of engineering assurance and project execution advice on the project
  • Identify and manage risks, ensuring compliance with appropriate Joint Venture policies and procedures
  • Develop project plans and cost and schedule estimates
  • Oversee studies and work from engineering contractors and suppliers
  • Share knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulation, ensuring these are followed where appropriate
  • Investigate and solve design and construction problems, in collaboration with other specialists if necessary
  • Drive HSSE assessments, risk workshops and design reviews
  • Drive the adoption and continuous improvement of practices and procedures, recommending technical innovations and leading on implementation
  • Generate findings for bp at the end of the secondment

Requirements:

  • Educated to a degree level in engineering
  • Experience of working on LNG, NGL, gas and/or power projects at the different stages of development, including feasibility and concept selection
  • Detailed understanding of project stage gate processes and the minimum acceptable level of development required to move to the next stage.
  • Understanding of project processes, execution planning and performance management used to review and track project progress
  • Experience with different risk management techniques and practiced in the identification and management of risks
  • Familiarity with relevant industry policies and technical practices
  • Knowledge of process safety tools, including HAZOP, LOPA and QRA and understanding of importance of barriers to maintain process safety
  • Experience of acting as a secondee within a joint venture
  • Well-developed team working and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a diverse team with minimum guidance
  • Excellent organisational, planning, written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with decision-makers and non-specialists
  • Written and oral fluency in English and Chinese
  • Familiar with relevant bp policies and Engineering Technical Practices
  • Knowledge and experience of working with the engineering contractors and supplier communities
  • Commercial awareness, particularly in regard to gas monetization and other midstream businesses
