About the role:
Would you like to join our growing and transforming legal operations team, supporting a worldwide legal department? We are looking for an experienced legal operations specialist who can make an impact on the future of bp legal.
Bp’s legal operations team provides centralized administration and project support across five core areas: technology, external counsel management, financial and matter reporting, learning and development, and knowledge management. The team also provides office administration support in the larger bp legal locations.
In this role you will work on a mixture of business-as-usual activities and special projects. You will have ownership of assigned programmes and processes and will work in collaboration with other team members, legal department staff, external vendors, and partners in other bp teams to deliver and maintain efficient and value-adding legal operations.

In this role you will:

  • Maintain relationships across legal and work with legal partners to gather feedback and identify solutions to address bp legal’s needs across the five core legal operations areas.
  • Provide input into and assist with management of the legal technology roadmap and vision for the future, considering the digital ambition of the company, needs of bp legal and the evolution of the legal tech industry.
  • Provide technical support for various systems (such as document management and e-billing) including front-end user support and training and back-end maintenance.
  • Collaborate with internal partners and key supporting entities to design, validate and successfully implement tools and technology across legal.
  • Project manage and optimally deliver completion of projects that will help transform and modernise the legal function.
  • Design, manage and generate reports leveraged across legal.
  • Manage core subscription and service contracts and vendor relationships.
About you:
  • Legal operations experience, including working with legal technology such as e-billing systems and document and matter management platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work with individuals at all levels and a diverse global team
  • Project management experience
  • Forward thinking and analytical mind, able to research and resolve issues as well as generate ideas for better ways of working
  • Embraces and promotes change
  • Proactive and able to work independently with little direction of day-to-day activities
  • Strong display of bp values and behaviours

Although not essential, it would be helpful if you have experience with other legal operations systems and processes, including conventional invoice and payment processes, law firm relationship management, spend and other data analytics tools, and legal training programmes.
