Job summary

Responsible for acting as a dedicated category resource, providing analyst support for category strategy development (category aligned) using sound category management knowledge, and conducting day-to-day procurement execution activities in order to meet the Service Level Agreements and Operational Level Agreements for procurement operations.

This role will deliver Business and Market intelligence support for Finance – procurement integrating commercial acumen and category management expertise to quantify the value captured from commercial frameworks and using external market insights and internal strategies, economic evaluation methodology, and performance history to quantify value opportunities for procurement.

Support will take the form of supply market analyses, economic analyses, cost models, business case evaluations, and recommendations which will be used by category management teams to:

  • ensure BP procures competitively priced goods and services,
  • enable better business decisions,
  • derive additional savings & efficiencies from our 3rd Party Spend and (4) mitigate risk from changes in external markets
Key Accountabilities
  • Understand business operations, commercial landscape and external market factors to recommend actions that create or protect value, contributing to BP’s bottom line
  • Provide market intelligence support to procurement (supply market analyses, inflation forecasts, supplier financial health analyses, cost models) and concrete insights/recommendations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external market intelligence service providers including a team of third-party analysts, based in India
  • Derive insights from analytical models and scenarios to enable better decision making and provide partners in procurement with timely, high quality, informative market intelligence through “should cost” modelling, supply market analyses and inflation forecast development
  • Acquire in-depth knowledge of the products and services used by BP and their supply markets and analysing it using the appropriate tools to deliver insights that advise future sourcing strategies
  • Lead engagements with category teams and/or BP suppliers (as appropriate) to influence business decisions and partner with stakeholders to contribute to the organisation's value delivery and/or risk reduction
  • Communicate effectively through various communication channels to gain dedication and support from diverse partners to achieve business outcomes, decision alignment, build consensus or resolve conflict
  • Build and maintain a strong network within BP across procurement, Finance and projects
  • Seek and capture feedback from partners to understand value enabled by cost Intelligence activities and act upon ideas for continuous improvement
Education:
  • Finance, Business, or Technical University Degree
Essential:
  • Analytical skills
  • Commercial skills: economic modeling, cost modeling, business case development
  • Demonstrable knowledge for Upstream commercial regimes notably production sharing agreements (PSA) and tax & royalty
  • Problem solving skills
  • Project management skills
  • Knowledge of Agile project management principles i.e. Kanban, scrum, sprint
  • Engagement and stakeholder management skills, i.e., ability to enroll others to quickly gain their trust and respect
  • Influencing and collaboration skills
  • Communication skills, both oral and written
Desirable criteria
  • MBA or CFA
  • Prior work with Technical Service Agreements (TSAs) and/or Production Sharing Agreements (PSAs) and/or tax and royalty schemes
