Job summary

Managing a logistics network that transports over 1 million barrels of crude oil, natural gas liquids and refined products each day, bp’s Supply & Optimization business is fast-paced and continuously evolving. The Fuel Supply & Midstream Internship program offers an engaging 12-week experience that will immerse you in the excitement of our global supply chain. Working in a dynamic and energizing environment, you will have ownership over a tangible project that presents real problems the business is facing. You will work alongside knowledgeable professionals and receive support from your manager and mentors to succeed in delivering a solution.
During the internship you are encouraged to network across Supply & Optimization: Marketing Supply, Refinery Supply, Specialty Product, Supply Negotiations, and Mid Term Planning, as well as with people from other business areas such as Finance, Marketing & Sales, and Strategy. You will quickly learn how the success we achieve in Supply is largely a result of the help from co-workers in other business segments, further exemplifying how we live out our One Team value daily. Through networking and other learning opportunities, you will develop a strong understanding of our supply business from the crude we purchase to feed our refineries, to the multitude of products we make that bring heat, light, and mobility to our local markets and beyond.
Following the end of the internship period, successful intern candidates will have the opportunity to be assessed for a full-time role into our rotational Accelerated Development Challenger Program. This highly selective three-year rotational program is intended to jump-start your career by providing a strong foundation of communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, as well as robust analytical and problem-solving abilities. This early career development will give you the ability and reach to take initiative within the wider organization. You will be exposed to the overall Fuels NA business and gain critical experience and knowledge in your chosen area of concentration. You will have the opportunity for early promotion within the program and have a facilitated placement in the organization upon completion. Rotations within the program are located in Chicago (IL), Blaine (WA), and La Palma (CA).
Nothing prepares you better for a career at bp than an internship. Our internship program provides hands-on, career-specific experience as you work full-time for 12 weeks in the summer between school years. You will work on real projects that deliver tangible benefits and measurable results and have the opportunity to learn about and help solve some of the most important issues we face. You will experience genuine teamwork alongside highly qualified and experienced colleagues, working on live projects and operations while using the latest equipment and technology. During your internship, you will also have access to many professional development and networking events to give you a well-rounded experience representative of a full-time role at bp. Here, you will be able to explore your career aspirations across all major areas of bp Fuel Supply & Midstream and develop the technical and professional skills you will need for a successful career.
