Trading & shipping is bp's face to the traded markets in oil, gas, power, emissions, chemicals, low carbon and finance. Its role is to enhance performance and maximise group value for our assets through distinctive supply, commodity trading, risk management and information technology, underpinned by a world-class finance, control and compliance infrastructure.

Weather & Climate – One year internship
The Weather & Climate team within Trading & shipping aims to be the primary source of weather information for bp. Playing a role supporting safe and reliable operations and creating commercial trading value, all while illuminating the scientific context on the path to net zero. The role offers the opportunity to apply your technical experience in a unique, exciting, and dynamic commercial environment in pursuit of that aim. You will be based in London, in a highly visible operational role using technical and analytics skills to create forecasts and guidance in the short-to-medium term. There will also be the potential to complete longer term R&D projects for newer business areas all in a bid to help bp achieve our net zero ambitions.

One year internships within Trading & shipping are designed to take place in the penultimate year of your studies. Throughout the year, you will have on the job training as well as face to face and online learning to develop technical and soft skills. Alongside this, a graduate buddy will help you network and learn everything you need to perform in your role.

During this internship, you will be assessed for your suitability for the Trading & shipping graduate development programme giving you the option to further your career with bp.


To apply to this programme you should be studying an undergraduate degree which allows you to complete a placement year. Candidates should be studying a physical science subject (including but not limited to): meteorology, climate science, oceanography, geography, geophysics, geology, maths, physics, earth science & environmental science. Your course should include meteorology modules and please list these in your CV.
