Job summary

Responsible for managing a team to drive operational excellence through acting as a “gatekeeper” and owner for all communications, programs and policies that impact on site operations, delivering continuous improvement of retail on-site processes, implementing effective programmes and delivering best-in-class tools to deliver the customer strategy while maximizing value, delivering gross margin and minimising costs.

Key Accountabilities

  • Be part of the JV Executive Team with a responsibility for developing site operations strategy and defining operational excellence.
  • To be a primary person responsible for HSSE and Internal Control performance of assets and people under his/her coverage and key interface between JV and BP HSSE & operation central team
  • To be accountable for delivering ethical policies in accordance with the Code of Conduct and regulations (e.g., ABC, CAT etc).
  • To build and lead a growing team within the JV, and be accountable for operational management of a battery swap network, which includes
‐ Performance management of 50+ retail stations
‐ Frontline sales of battery swap services
‐ Develop detailed annual spending and resourcing plans and priorities to meet major business goals and objectives
‐ Develop pricing strategy to maintain a healthy balance between volume and margin
‐ Develop and implement short-term and long-term operational plans
‐ Identify and highlight risks associated with operational issues and problems
‐ Provides relevant and specific expertise and develop solutions to complex operational problems that will improve business efficiency and cost effectiveness
‐ Provides standard methodology advice, mentorship and makes recommendations
‐ Ensure site operational efficiency and equipment maintenance to deliver excellent reliability to win customer satisfaction
‐ On-site staff management, cost containment programs /initiatives to achieve company cost target
‐ Support JV network development and drive balance between existing market demand and network expansion pace
‐ Work closely with planning & construction team to provide vital operation/HSE inputs and ensure quality/safety of site design and construction.
‐ Support the development of new marketing programs and technologies to enhance customer experience
‐ A strong advocate in systematically embedding operational risks management process and tools
  • Provide technical coaching / mentoring to experienced professionals within one's field
  • Be the key interface between bp and JV to manage relationships with JV partners and other JV key stakeholders to improve bp values
  • To build and manage relationships with major OEMs, key land/demand customers and local government/authority
  • To be accountable for all Government and Regulatory Authority licensing requirements applicable to all site across the network
  • To develop insights that can advise back to bp for the battery swap network scale-up, plus future sources of value development, such as power storage etc.
  • To be an active member of the professional network in the battery swap industry and leverage external contacts to maintain awareness of best practice development.

Experience and background

  • Bachelor’s degree+, qualified in Business or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant business experience, expert/specialist in physical assets operation; New Energy, EV charging, battery swap, fuel retail industry is preferable
  • A good track record in managing a large and diverse team, JV management experience would be highly regarded
  • An excellent track record in P&L accountability delivery
  • Excellent understanding and applications in EV charging / battery swap operations
  • Proficient in English speaking and writing
