Job summary

The Operations Superintendent leads the Asset Team, whose objective is to achieve the safe, compliant Operations Superintendent, and optimum operations of their assigned process units. The Operations Superintendent ensures their area; remains aligned with all applicable internal/external regulations and standards, maintains appropriate asset monitoring/maintenance programs, adheres to established procedures and good operating/maintenance practices, participates in development of the refinery operations/optimization plan, develops appropriate long term asset improvement plans, develops interpersonal capability within the team and support functions, and champions a culture where all employees feel included and diversity of the workforce is fully applied. The Operations Superintendent works with the Operations Manager.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develops and delivers an effective asset monitoring and care plan (e.g. preventative/predictive maintenance, operating envelopes, long term unit health monitoring, etc.).
  • Accountable for development and delivery of the annual routine operations and maintenance budgets, variable expense (energy, chemicals, catalyst), and capital projects.
  • Maintains unit reliability/availability, implementation of the unit/refinery operations/optimization plan, process improvements and customer focus/assistance.
  • Accountable for product quality performance of the unit.
  • Responsible for ensuring the operations team maintains close communication with Production Planning, to coordinate maintenance and TAR activities that impact unit capabilities.
  • Ensures the operations and technical support teams are performing effective troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis of all equipment and process related issues, engaging other functional team members (reliability/optimization engineers, control engineers, etc) as appropriate.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent

Desirable Criteria:

  • 5 -10+ years of operations experience
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
