bp and Equinor formed a strategic partnership to develop offshore wind energy in US. bp and Equinor will jointly develop four assets in two existing offshore wind leases located offshore New York and Massachusetts that together have the potential to generate power for more than two million homes.

The partnership will leverage capability and experience from both companies. Development engineering, construction and commissioning operations will be performed by Equinor Wind Services LLC US. It is staffed by secondees from both Equinor and bp.

This role is needed to support these projects in the greater New York city area. The successful candidate may support offshore wind as a home-based employee before deployment to the US East Coast, upon prior agreement, and must be mobile to work in the required area when needed.

It is possible that this role will become a secondment onto a bp joint venture. This can be discussed in more detail during the recruitment process.

The Operations & Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the operational requirements are defined and met through project development deliveries, contributing to engineering efficiency and safety in design including contributing to secure operational readiness for the project.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide experience transfer from other US wind operating assets, including but not limited to operational parameters, compliance with local codes and standards, operational safety, supply chains
  • Provide input to the operating model, including philosophies and strategies needed for concept selection
  • Contribute to O&M documentation deliveries to the project, including acting as main author where appropriate
  • Contribute to operations reviews of project technical documentation
  • Ensure operational compliance with project-specific/local requirements, regulations and legislation
  • Ensure Health, Safety and Security requirements are met
  • Identify and drive O&M related technical value improvements
  • Give technical and operational inputs to OPEX and availability estimates
  • Support maintenance engineering activities within the project, including; spare part strategy, condition based monitoring and reliability assessments, Maintenance management
  • Facilitate development of project or region-specific operational processes and procedures
  • Provide input to procurement strategy and setting up local supply chains ready for operations
Essential Education:
  • Engineering degree in an engineering discipline (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical etc.) OR equivalent experience in offshore Operations & Maintenance.
  • Membership of a relevant engineering professional body is desirable.
Experience & Job Requirements:
  • Experience in Operations & Maintenance of offshore assets
  • 3-5 years’ experience with wind projects and/or operations is desirable
  • Demonstrates a strong focus on safety
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Effective collaborator across teams and departments
  • Positive approach to problem solving
  • Open to learning new skills and working in a dynamic project environment
  • Proactive approach to delivering on tasks and able to take initiative
Internal Employees: Please be advised the position will be raised as either H or G level, depending on identified talent aligned to previous years of experience and relevant skills required for set grade level.
