Job summary

The Planning & Performance Lead is an essential member of Performance Reporting Innovation & Engineering (I&E) Team, responsible for the performance management (GFR ie. actuals performance reporting and GFO ie. forecast & plan), reporting of management information; leading / coordinating / monitoring required control initiatives. This role will be responsible to provide business advisory and insights into business decisions and ensure financial implications are integrated into strategic plans.

The incumbent will be directly responsible for performance reporting of I&E function and providing operational support on financial related matters, working closely with the business users, budget holders, embedded finance and GBS teams. He or she will be the focal person to coordinate the implementation / monitoring of control requirements in conjunction with Group’s minimum control expectations. Incumbent must be performance biased, have sound knowledge in process & controls, sharp analytical skills and the ability to communicate / influence at the right levels effectively.


  • Pro-active engagement with various stakeholders to support performance of the I&E operations through Management Information (MI) Reporting, provide monthly MI reports, analysis of GFO and GFR movements; deliver quarter-end and year-end closing activities; present and review performance and KPIs, providing insightful commentaries, highlighting risks & areas of focus to support plan delivery.
  • Responsible for the development of annual budgets from 2-5 years span, strategic plans & periodic forecasts through working closely with the functional management, providing the right challenge for a robust set of financials as part of performance management.
  • Ongoing coordination effort with other budget holders, business users, embedded finance and GBS finance contacts on operational finance reporting matters and issues resolutions.
  • Ensure effective financial and control systems, embed required processes / procedures based on Group’s minimum control expectations. This will involve close coordination with business and support function leaders, driving robust financial controls and compliance with strict standards, including:
  1. Review and control over Balance Sheet Integrity (BSI), overall BSI & escalation process between country finance and GBS are functioning as desired with clear roles and responsibilities
  2. Coordinate the testing on the effectiveness of Segregation Of Duties mitigation plans
  3. Assist in resolutions of Due Diligence matters / compilation of quarterly Due Diligence submissions
  4. Assist in maintenance of the DoA, ensuring the right DoA as per SPU guidelines, with appropriate and consistent supporting notes / delegation approach
  5. Review on spending to ensure business compliance, liaise with respective line managers on potential violations and provide mentorship if need be
  • Driving the roll-out of Group or SPU wide controls & processes initiatives, working closely on engagement with GBS / Business stakeholders where appropriate.
  • Support business efficiency projects that are centrally coordinated providing financial insights and drive tactical improvements working closely with key stakeholders / GBS / functional teams.
  • Partners with the business stakeholders to analyse actual performance and articulate the underlying differences to forecasts, providing trends, recommendations and interventions for improved performance.
  • Work as an individual contributor with opportunity to develop into managing a team of 2 – 5 team members, providing support operationally; mentor, guide and coach in day to day performance and career development.

Education & Experience

  • A university degree (in either of accounting, commerce, economics, trade etc.) or professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA).
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English is a key requirement of the role.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant Accounting & Finance experience with minimum of 3 years covering areas of business performance management, financial accounting and reporting, business planning and financial control is required. The post-holder must have a high degree of analytical skills, numerical skills and commercial awareness. Experience in an operations or business role would have an added advantage.
  • Confident of interacting at all levels both within and outside the countries. Experience of working in Lubes previously would be advantage.
  • Self-confident, pro-active, highly performance driven, able to work with little direct supervision on long term tasks and highly passionate about delivery. Ability to handle conflicting priorities is essential.
