The Fresh Food & Proprietary Beverage Category Management Lead reports to Fresh Food & Proprietary Beverage (FF & PB) Manager and is responsible for developing and driving a FF & PB category, inclusive of opportunity identification, tactical category management, and promotion planning.

The Fresh Food & Proprietary Beverage Category Management Lead reports to Fresh Food & Proprietary Beverage (FF&PB) Manager and is responsible for developing and driving a FF&PB category, inclusive of opportunity identification, tactical category management, and promotion planning.

Essential Job Functions

  • Owning Fresh Food & Proprietary Beverage (FF&PB) Category Management for Thorntons
  • Understands cook platforms for Thorntons and identify commonalities of cook platforms with ampm to help grow the franchisee FF&PB and franchisee adoption
  • Align with Operations team to identify areas of efficiency, ensure effective roll-outs, and train operators on how to prepare, store and safely handle the FF&PB products.
  • Leads key national promotions or planograms and handles the business plan scorecard, presenting results and recommending corrective action if need be
  • Develops new FF&PB offerings as well as improvement of existing programs for Thorntons, demonstrating leading practices and takeaways from ampm
  • Rolls out FF&PB products and programs alongside the operations and data analytics team for insights
  • Leads proprietary inventory levels. Troubleshoots any overages and shortages accordingly, and reduces shrink (perishability, wastage) with the support of Operations

Strategy Development & Analysis

  • Develop and integrate strategies and action plans to improve store performance through analyzing and tracking performance metrics: analyze pre/promotional metrics, sales, margins, inventory levels, and purchasing trends to improve category profitability.
  • Develops national promotions-pricing strategies that advance the category business plan.
  • Develop strategic and tactical business and promotional plans for FF&PB categories for Thorntons.

Supplier Relations

  • Achieve the category budget by approving vendor estimates, generating purchase orders, processing invoices and rebates.
  • Lead contract discussions which may include development of regional or national to contract/rebate agreements that facilitate category business plans
  • Leverage the economies of scale from both brands’ buying needs to engineer discounts and further Joint Business Relationships

Budget & Maintenance

  • Track category budget and rebate process through vendor management of rebate programs and reconciliation of rebate allocation breakouts and tracking.

Marketing & Communications

  • Develop communications at regional leadership and store level for all channels of trade, understand and communicate business results and recommend corrective action as needed, work closely with operations to ensure understanding and execution of dispensed beverages marketing offers at sites

Other General Responsibilities

  • Assist in monthly FF & PB promotional pricing to include setting pricing and bundling bulletins for communication and showcase for all channels.
  • Assists in the reset process ensuring tags are correct and updated as needed. Sends out bi-weekly lists of reset schedule and assists in troubleshooting issues at store level

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or higher preferred

Experience

  • 2+ years in QSR, Grocery or Convenience, Vendor, or Retail Experience
  • 2+ years food & beverage category management experience required
  • Experience in food manufacturing and food safety

Skills & Proficiencies

  • Solid understanding of HACCP Food safety programs and requirements to mitigate Food Incident risks while improving customer satisfaction
  • Strong leadership, critical thinking skills, and analytical skills
  • Understands Category Performance indicators
