Job summary

The Pressure Systems and Integrity (PSI) Engineer supports inspection practices, procedures and strategy relating to static pressure equipment (Pressure Vessels, Piping, Heat Exchangers). Applies pragmatic solutions focused on risk management, inspection production efficiency, defect elimination and standardization of engineering processes and workflows.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Interpret and apply Industry Codes and Standards – Maintains a working knowledge of applicable codes and standards to the latest editions of API/ASME and other applicable industry standards.
  • Advise on and promote None Destructive Testing (NDT) technology to minimize turnaround durations and internal interventions.
  • Lead inspection programs such as verification of pressure vessel and piping design operating conditions, thickness requirements and documentation in the Inspection Database Management System (IDMS) or process safety information documents.
  • Perform simple design and fitness for service assessment and equipment endorsement.
  • Ensuring technology deployment is assessed / tested prior to deployment for a high confidence in the suitability of the selected technique and competency of personnel executing the inspection activity.
  • Assess anomalies and categorize according to risk. Recommend and plan mechanical / temporary repairs / replacement to a time-frame commensurate with the risk.
  • Support TAR and Projects Teams as required for inspection scope development.
  • Evaluate Pressure Safety Valve (PSV) inspection and testing histories to determine interval and testing types.
  • Manage the PSV inspection and testing database within the IDMS.

Essential Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineer preferably with or working towards Professional Engineering Status (P.Eng)

Essential Experience and Job Requirements:

  • Experience of working in an oil and gas processing / refinery / chemical process plant
  • Experience working on API 579 fitness for service
  • Work experience with relevant inspection codes and standards to meet regulatory compliance and also have a working knowledge of other codes such as API 510, 570, 653, 579, 580, ASME VIII, B31, PCC-2, ANST, PCN and ANSI.
  • TWIC card is needed for the role.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience with RBI technology and application, fitness for service assessments failure investigation techniques.
  • Knowledge of corrosion mitigation and mechanical integrity assessment techniques.
