We are looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager who will be part of the Digital Engineering Center of Excellence (CoE) reporting directly to the VP of Digital Engineering. In this role you’ll lead technical programs across bp, from driving engineering and operational excellence standards to leading the delivery of new software and services. We need someone who is both technical and able to operate and communicate at all levels, from execution to strategic.

This role will be located at or near a bp office in the UK

We are looking for a Principal Technical Programme Manager who will add new value to the Digital Engineering Centre of Excellence (CoE) reporting directly to the VP of Digital Engineering.

What does the day to day look like?

You’ll lead technical programs across bp, from driving engineering and operational excellence standards to leading the delivery of new software and services. We need someone who is both technical and able to operate and communicate at all levels, from execution to strategic.

  • Contributes to strategic development for the specialism, that in turn shapes and supports delivery of projects, ensuring activities and outputs remain fit for purpose.
  • Works with the team and provides highly sophisticated technical expertise to build vision and improve value from current applications / platforms and new technologies, showing technical thought leadership and driving continuous improvement efforts.
  • Partners and works in collaboration with multiple internal and external partners and mentors and shares technical expertise with more junior members of own team to build capability.

What do we want to see from you!

  • A proven understanding of Software Development and Software Operations along with the concept of DevOps and cloud-based delivery.
  • A good overall knowledge of project delivery and agile practices.
  • Communication - Able to relate to and connect with both business and technology people
  • Able to understand and respond to the drivers and concerns of a wide range of both business and technical partners
  • Able to facilitate discussion and the development of alternatives or different approaches
  • Able to work/collaborate/communicate optimally with upper management, partners, and other external dependencies.
  • Problem solving skills - organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to work round obstacles to get things done
  • Partner/Supplier management – Understanding of key processes and how to get the best from our Partners.
