Job summary

Rapidly growing its renewables business is core to bp’s strategy – by 2030 bp aims to have developed around 50GW of net renewable generating capacity up from 3.3GW in 2020. Currently we are looking to hire great people to join our offshore wind team in Denmark. You will work alongside other bp leaders in country and region to harness the best of bp for the region to create an integrated energy offering. You will also work with the region’s teams, and global offshore wind teams (i.e. bid support / tender excellence, construction management) to shape and develop the strategic direction of the offshore portfolio.

Program Director, offshore wind
We are seeking for professionals from Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands as well.
The office locations are: Copenhagen, Hamburg, Utrecht.

This role is part of bp’s Gas & Low Carbon Energy entity which supports all bp’s new energy projects including offshore wind, solar, hydrogen and carbon capture and storage (CCS). In this role You will:
  • Oversee a program of projects consisting of multiple assets requiring co-ordination across business units, e.g. Energy HUBs with offshore wind and onshore integration, Energy Islands with offshore wind and multi-user functionality (e.g. electrolysers, batteries, interconnection infrastructure) and the overall delivery of the Basin Strategy of the North Sea and Baltic Sea
  • Manage a Project Management Office (PMO) and Program Managers to deliver on the co-ordination of multiple assets delivery during both development and construction, oversee delivery of the Basin Strategy and ensure internal stakeholders are managed accordingly
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to Program Managers, Project Managers and Project Directors supporting their personal and professional development and delivery (dotted line)
  • Establish & apply standards of Excellence for Program Delivery at Best in Class
  • Set project’s objectives and strategy and ensures the team works efficiently and effectively towards the common goals
  • Hold the key relationships with governmental authorities and strategic initiatives from a supply chain perspective
  • Provide leadership and direction for developing and implementing the execution plan following appropriate project policies, procedures and tools to support overall delivery of the project(s) as part of the program
  • Ensure development and delivery of a program plan, with detailed schedule, resource plan and budget in line with the defined objectives.
  • Provide cross-discipline coordination with other project team members to drive integrated technical integrity of the project and to ensure that work is carried out effectively and efficiently

What You will need to be successful:
  • University degree and professional qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated track record of Offshore Wind industry Experience, ideally across the Offshore Wind life cycle is a must
  • General understanding of offshore wind development, ideally in the Netherlands / Germany
  • Strong technical understanding of offshore wind energy infrastructure and supply chain.
  • Fluency in English plus either Danish, or plus German or plus Dutch depending on candidate home location
  • At least 10 years of experience in project development in offshore wind or similar, with knowledge of the complete life cycle of an offshore wind farm
  • Experience with other renewable asset technology (storage, infrastructure, electrolysers) is a benefit
  • People skills, ability to lead by example and to lead without line authority
  • Demonstrable ability to influence in areas of limited control
  • Ability to professionally interact with external stakeholders, for example with suppliers, government authorities, or regional stakeholders
