Following the recent bid submission for two offshore wind leases in the Netherlands, and in line with our future strategic growth ambitions for offshore wind in the Netherlands, we are looking to hire great people to join our offshore wind team in the UK and the Netherlands. These roles will form part of a multi-disciplinary project team which, if successful, will work together in the development, construction and operation of wind farms off the west coast of the Netherlands. This is just one part of the exciting integrated energy system that bp is looking to create in the Netherlands, with renewables at its centre.

About the role

Project Engineer will be supporting Senior Project Engineer and the Project General Manager as required. Successful candidate for the role will be acting as the single point of accountability for managing the receipt and interpretation of all engineering and company-provided deliverables related to Offshore Projects scope.

The individual will be assigned as the interface point for fabrication regarding:
· Technical queries and other engineering-related issues
· Vendors’ deliverables and site visits

The Project Engineer will also assume the role of constructability coordinator covering the integration of engineering, procurement, quality, testing, installation, and commissioning of fabricated components to ensure they meet project requirements.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist / support the Project Manager to achieve project objectives
  • Demonstrate HSE leadership by actively engaging the BP site team and construction contractors with actions that contribute to delivering on BP’s HSE expectations
  • Ensure delivery of engineering technical documentation and procured items to support the fabrication schedule.
  • Manage interfaces with Suppliers, their contractors and internal bp supporting teams and disciplines.
  • Actively monitor construction activities first-hand to ensure satisfactory execution in accordance with the project technical documents
  • Recognize and effectively communicate all potential technical scope changes
  • Liaise closely with PSCM to coordinate delivery of all company-supplied materials and equipment
  • Develop preliminary responses to Site Engineering Queries (SEQs), Deviation Requests (DVRs and Concession Requests (CRs) and coordinate the timely response and close-out from engineering and from BP technical authorities
  • Support the PSCM Lead & Construction Manager, as requested, with technical back-up to Variation Order Requests
  • Liaise with the Construction Manager regarding mobilization and coordination of vendors

About you

You will have an Engineering degree or equivalent, Chartered or Licensed Professional Engineer preferred. Experience is what matters. The successful candidate will have the following experience:
  • Demonstrable track record of experience and accountabilities gained on offshore wind or oil & gas projects
  • Experience with effectively interfacing and working together with owner / contractor engineering & construction personnel and with multi-discipline site teams
  • Previous experience demonstrating creative and proactive approaches to addressing engineering and procurement-related issues
  • Competency in comprehending and interpreting engineering & construction specifications, reports, drawings, and other technical documents
  • Track record of team leadership roles and participation on high-impact teams
  • Ability to perform effectively in a team environment, inclusive of demonstrating collaborative, cooperative, flexible, adaptable, respectful, and tactful personal characteristics
