The retail fuel and convenience landscape is changing as our company pursues its ambition to become a net zero company by 2050 or sooner and helps the world to get to net zero too. These changes mean our property portfolio will need to evolve as we create and develop new mobility and convenience solutions for our customers. We want you to join us on our journey to redefine our property portfolio to meet the future needs of our customers across Australia and New Zealand.

We have a an exciting opportunity for an emerging property professional to join our team! You’ll be responsible for managing the divestment of bp’s surplus property assets, providing support and expert property advice on the property trusts in Australia & New Zealand, supporting the Network and Property teams with various projects. This role will suit someone who is seeking to take the next step in their property career with potential for future growth opportunities.

What you can expect in this role:

  • Development and execution of divestment plans, in line with the network strategy, for properties no longer required to be held by the business, including going concerns and non-operating sites. This would include you working with internal partners such as operations teams, remediation management, legal, tax, Finance and external collaborators such as interested buyers, real estate agents and legal firms.
  • Work with and support representatives of the property trust in Australia and NZ to ensure contractual commits are clearly understood, obligations are met and managed to ensure the company’s interests are improved and protected.
  • Provide support, expertise and advice to the network and property teams on significant one off high profile, high value time critical projects.
  • Support the Network Planning & Property Manager in the delivery of the network and property team objectives

What we would like to see you bring to the team:
  • Strong understanding and background in retail and commercial property, including leases and freehold
  • Good commercial acumen
  • Tertiary education in Business Management, Project Management, Town Planning, Property or any other related field
  • Previous experience negotiating commercial agreements, including instructing, and working with legal professionals
  • Solid appreciation and understanding of corporate governance processes and procedures.
  • Experience working on or with property trust matters desirable
