Job summary

The Mona Morgan and Morven projects are the new offshore wind projects being developed by bp and EnBW in the Irish Sea and off the East Coast of Scotland. The multi-billion pound development has a potential generating capacity of around 5.9 gigawatt (GW) – enough to power more than 6 million homes.

The Project is part of the wider Offshore UK Wind Program (Mona / Morgan/Morven). These offshore wind developments play a material part in supporting the UK Government's target of producing sufficient offshore wind energy to power every UK home by the end of this decade

bp have formed a 50/50 JV partnership with Hamburg based EnBW in delivery of the UK Offshore Wind programme.

The Quality Manager plays a key role in delivering this complex offshore project. They will:

  • direct the project leadership team in the creation and management of a Right 1st Time quality culture within the project team, contractors and suppliers
  • develop and implement a structured quality management system (QMS) for the UK Offshore Wind program and drive compliance with the program quality management process.
  • manage quality in design, equipment manufacture, fabrication, installation, HUC and hand over to Operations.
  • be responsible for establishing the project quality objectives, developing and maintaining the project Quality Plan and other supporting quality documents
  • be part of the UK Offshore Wind leadership team, reporting to the Quality Discipline Manager but deployed to the direction of the UK Offshore Wind Leadership Team.
  • manage all quality discipline resources deployed on the program.
  • interface with other quality managers to develop best practice and drive continuous improvement in global quality management practices

What you will deliver

  • Develop and implement a Quality Management System for the program
  • Identify and implement tools and processes required for implementation of the QMS
  • Identifies the Quality Organization required to deliver the Quality Plan and manages the recruitment and development of the project’s quality resources
  • Identifies quality training and development requirements for the members of the project team and also where required for contractors and suppliers to ensure project quality requirements are understood
  • Support the development of the project Contracting Strategy,
  • Owns contract relationship with any quality service providers, such as provision of inspectors / quality personnel or Independent Verification Bodies (IVB) required for certification
  • Manage execution of quality control activities
  • Develop and execute a risk-based oversight program of the contractors and supplier quality activities, based on criticality and project specific requirements
  • Develop and execute a risk-based audit program across the supply chain regarding quality plans, quality control processes, surveillance, factory acceptance test and vendor spot checks
  • Identify, collect and analyse quality KPIs and metrics
  • Develop and implement a non-conformance process
  • Conduct root cause investigations of non-conformances
  • Interface with PSCM and engineering to ensure quality requirements are clear and unambiguous in contracts with vendors
  • Collect, assess and implement applicable quality-related lessons from external sources,
  • Actively contribute to the Quality Community of Practice
  • Network with peers in other wind programs

What you will need to be successful

  • You will have a relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • ASQ Certified Manager of Quality, Member of the CQI, or equivalent.
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in:

  • capital projects and an understanding of the project stage-gate governance processes.
  • developing a project quality program for a multi-disciplined team.
  • supervising teams performing QA/QC activities or third-party certification bodies
  • developing inspection and test plans for service and products based on criticality and supply chain risks.
  • leading quality audits on contractors, suppliers and internally
  • leading by influence
  • Development of Quality Plans; establish risk-based audit programs; oversight programs, site surveillance plans; supplier capability assessments; and non-conformance processes.
  • non-destructive examination, welding inspection, coatings inspection and general inspection methods

Leadership skills required include :

  • working in a dynamic and agile team environment with competing priorities
