Job summary

The Regional Convenience Support Advisor is responsible for coaching and guiding Store Managers, Franchisees and Convenience staff in order to assist in the delivery of a profitable and quality Convenience Operations offer across the BP Express Network/ PnP Express network. The role will be focused on monitoring quality, standards and adherence to process and compliance at site. He/she:

  • Acts as the communication point for food health and safety in Retail SA and advises on all food safety matters
  • Coaches and trains in safe food preparation, quality and presentation to ensure the Wild Bean Cafe offer is consistently provided to customers
  • Monitoring and Managing operational standards and compliance at stores
  • Analyse and advise on turnover and profitability improvement opportunities
  • Responsible for the performance and growth of the Express Shop stores

Key Accountabilities:

  • Achieve shop turnover and gross margin targets, as well as mystery shopper and mystery diner.
  • Development of effective business plans for all stores, including marketing and operations, focusing on performance improvement
  • Managing shrinkage and wastage within profitable levels
  • Assist in the product range development and selection process to ensure product quality and fit with the merchandise strategy.
  • Monitor competitor pricing policies as well as BP franchisees’ adherence to the set pricing strategies.
  • Assist in the implementation of the preferred supplier strategy and develop strategic relations with regional supplier contacts.
  • Manage and monitor the implementation and compliance to plannograms
  • Assisting and advising franchisees on the development and implementation of the business plans
  • Execution of regional & national marketing and promotional initiatives
  • Monitoring and managing operational standards and compliance
  • Manage and build the relationship with all franchisees
  • Conduct site visits with all stores on a regular basis
  • Ensure compliance to the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Assist with in-store training of franchisees and staff and identify training needs
  • Problem solving up to resolution
  • Coaches and trains Business Partners and Convenience store staff in food service and product development standards and procedures to drive sales and ensure best in class execution across the network
  • Makes the necessary pre-open preparations to ensure a smooth and efficient store opening
  • On an ongoing basis reviews effectiveness of Wild Bean Café operating procedures and systems and continually identifies opportunities for improving the operation and implementing a best practice approach
  • Collecting and reporting of monthly/weekly sales information
  • Completing all site visit documentation
  • Maintain individual site files - all communication, discussion notes, meeting notes, evaluation results, and any other records

Education and Experience Required:
Education
  • A tertiary qualification in food service/hospitality management, BCom/ Business degree will be an advantage
Experience
  • 3-4 years previous experience working within a food service environment
  • 5 years retail/ fast foods experience
  • Thorough understanding of food safety legislation is essential
  • Computer Literacy is essential
  • Ability to drive compliance of planograms, cleanliness of the various store types
  • Letter/writing etiquette
  • Basic knowledge of store suppliers to ensure promotional compliance during promotional period
  • Knowledge and understanding of store operations manuals on standards and compliance

Grade IResponsible for supporting the maximisation of sustainable store profit through ensuring implementation of food offers/promotions and adherence to planograms and health, safety and quality requirements in line with the retail food strategy and marketing objectives.
