Job summary

The Senior Environment & Social Advisor - Air Quality and Carbon will be will be the technical resource for operational activities on environmental requirements and regulations in Air Quality and Carbon. They will supporting entity delivery of OMS requirements, preparing and submitting Air Quality Reviews and permits, evaluating project impact to air quality compliance and permitting, and assessing performance trends and leading continuous improvement in area of expertise.

Accountabilities Include:

  • Preparing and submitting air permits, amendments, and ensuring compliance with all applicable air quality regulations for facilities and platforms across the Gulf of Mexico
  • Works with the relevant project groups to evaluate design, construction and operational change projects to ensure that regulatory applicability is determined and appropriate permitting is in place
  • Prepares emissions inventories and annual reporting for BOEM and EPA, including performing emissions calculations, and works with operations and field specialists to ensure continued compliance
  • Lead in the Gulf of Mexico’s delivery of bp’s strategic carbon and methane aims
  • Conducts self-verification of facility operations to ensure that air requirements and commitments are being met and develop follow-up as necessary
  • Conducts training for operations personnel on sir quality or carbon requirements to ensure that programs for compliance are in place and adequate
  • Works with automation and engineers to develop and implement tracking tools for assisting in compliance monitoring
  • Communicates regularly with operations personnel to maintain a high level of knowledge for compliance in the field
  • Attends technical meetings of trade association work groups (OOC) as needed to assist in developing and improving regulatory requirements
  • Support regional emergency response by serving as the Environmental Unit Leader during emergency response situations and also provide 24-hour environmental reporting support on the Environmental Duty Cell Phone on a rotational basis
  • Develop, issue, and maintain appropriate environment-related procedures and guidance for air quality including support for implementing environmental policies and procedures required to meet regulatory and bp requirements applicable to onshore and offshore assets

Essential Criteria:

  • Science or Engineering Bachelor’s Degree, Postgraduate in Environmental Engineering or Science preferred
  • Extensive experience in the Air Quality field within the Oil and Gas Sector including working knowledge of offshore regulations
  • Proven track record of successful performance management and delivery of carbon or methane activities, or similar
  • Strong communication and team work skills

  • Ability to lead via influence and motivate leaders at higher levels of the organization
  • Has demonstrated success in cross functional collaboration
  • Courage to raise risks and issues
  • Direct field experience or significant exposure to front line field deployed staff through previous roles
  • Comfortable analyzing data and discerning trends/themes in data
