Job summary

The Process Engineer will develop and select processing options that best meet business requirements on assigned projects, with specific focus on the front-end project stages (Appraise and Select). The overall responsibilities include:

  • To provide assurance on behalf of BP, and in conjunction with the Single Point Accountability that the project delivers the business case,
  • To ensure that process designs are safe, operable and comply with BP technical and integrity management standards,
  • To gain experience and knowledge during the project that will be retained, documented and transferred into the organisation after the project is complete,
  • To act as a link between the project and the operating refinery organisation,
  • To ensure project execution efficiency and quality at each project stage.

As the project moves through CVP the role of the process engineer changes. During Appraise and Select the focus is on the identification, generation and selection of options to address the project problem statement and to meet the needs of the business. In the Define stage, the focus shifts to an interface and assurance role. This involves leading the interface with the Engineering Contractor team from a technical perspective to ensure that the detailed design is consistent with BP requirements and that it is delivered in a manner which will allow the project schedule and cost targets to be met.
