Job summary

Grade HResponsible for supporting the business through providing advice on safety aspects of activities using sound technical capabilities, helping to identify emerging risks with regards to safe working practices, ensuring compliance with the relevant safety policies and procedures and contributing to campaigns and initiatives to improve process safety with the aim of reducing operational risk.

Senior Safety Advisor
Continuously improving the (personal) safety and health of our employees within the refinery, with the aim of preventing accidents, personal injuries and damage to installations and the environment. The Sr. Safety advisor oversees the compliance of both bp standards and Dutch national occupational health and safety legislation.

Key Accountibilities:
The sr. Safety advisor is responsible for solicited and unsolicited advice to the bpRR organization on personal safety topics. Legal compliance to occupational safety and health legislation is of main importance. Continuous improvement of the occupational safety and health of all employees (bp and contractors) is the main goal.

In this role You will:
  • Responsible for compliance with legal requirements (i.a Dutch RIE)
  • The Senior Safety Advisor performs the day-to-day oversight for bp standards regarding personal safety
  • Delivers coaching to the relevant workforce concerning safety and health procedures/programmes, hazard identification and promotional activities to stimulate health and safety awareness
  • Organising / creating HSE training material and trains contractor / bp staff when required
  • Participates in the FEL and execute of maintenance / projects and turnarounds
  • Supports regular site inspections based on the activity and risk of operational activities and delivers health, safety and compliance audits, identifying gaps, creating gap closure plans and implementing solutions
  • Participates in incident investigations to determine root causes and develop corrective actions, and assists in coordinating the response to safety issues identified from incident investigation reports with the appropriate leaders
  • Analyses HSSE metrics, supplier self-verification and other findings in order to advise on emerging risks and other areas of concern regarding safety, and provides advice to improve safety performance
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of bp HSE practices and regulatory legislation
  • Complies with bp's Code of Conduct and models bp's Values & Behaviours

We have the following requirements:
  • Bachelor or Master Degree in relevant discipline (HVK or equivalent)
  • 5-7 years of job experience
  • Native Dutch speaker
  • Has an expert knowledge and experience in the field off occupational health and safety
  • Has knowledge of current Dutch occupational health and safety legislation
  • Participate where required as representative of bpRR in internal and external H&S community (Deltalinqs, VNPI)
  • Experience in the field H&S during turnarounds and/or projects is a plus
  • Good communication skills in Dutch and English (written and verbally)
  • Conceptual thinking skills and independent way of working
