We have a vacancy for a Senior Technical Support Technologist (Analytical) working as a member of the Technology Deployment Team working with the Sr. Technical Support Team Leader.

The Applied Sciences team operate a range of state-of-the-art laboratories and research equipment around the globe. Our Wayne, NJ laboratory conducts research, development, deployment, and technical service activities to support bp Castrol automotive and industrial lubricants businesses.

Job Purpose:

The primary responsibility of this role is the coordination and fulfilment of lubricants analytical services for the Industrial lubricants business and broader Applied Sciences teams. This role reports into the Senior Industrial Technical Support Team Leader for and covers all analytical activities relating to the entire Castrol range of lubricants products, raw materials and related customer services investigative analysis work.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide high level of chemical and physical analysis supporting customer technical service, product development, supply chain and new materials evaluation.
  • Commission new equipment and deliver high standard of analytical support in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Maintain equipment and inventory of accessories and take charge of equipment maintenance and calibration as equipment owner.
  • Manage incoming samples, in-progress samples and retained samples in a safe and compliant way.
  • Maintain inventory of regular reagents and standards.
  • Work with the Applied Sciences teams to deliver technical support and investigative analysis as required.
  • Work with the marketing team to demonstrate the analytical capabilities of Castrol to customers.
  • Follow relative OMS and HSSE guideline and policy in the lab.

Essential Criteria & Qualifications

  • Degree in Analytical Chemistry or chemistry
  • 5-8 years Industry experience in analytical chemistry with instrumental analysis including ICP, FT-IR and GC is preferred.
  • Analytical experience covering lubricants, metalworking fluids, corrosion preventives and greases is important and would be viewed as an advantage.
