Job summary

Grade GResponsible for developing and implementing the Account strategy to achieve the short/long term business objectives, managing the daily selling job and taking accountability for the top line KPIs and the implementation of major sales and marketing activities, whilst assisting in hiring, training and coaching to build up a highly motivated, capable and effective team to support sustainable growth. The scope of the role will influence the grade – this can include financial accountability, geographical scope, leadership responsibilities and overall level of responsibility.

The Strategic Account Manager (SAM) is accountable for leading the profitability, operational performance, and contractual relationships for a selected number of strategic dealer Groups across the UK. The SAM will shape and implement overall account strategy to deliver value and performance. This role will also be responsible for supporting several key projects within M&C UK and be the single point of contact for sales, projects and marketing programme implementation and negotiation of all related contracts.
Will need to be instrumental in developing and identifying growth opportunities and renewed sources of incremental value. Lead Group(s) relationships, identifying issues and acting where appropriate. Also playing a key part for providing support and overall management of strategic accounts in areas of operations, HSSE, OMS, planning performance, standards and offer penetration.
What the role does!

  • Formulate against agreed Plan for nominated Group(s), consistent with Group(s) strategy. Proactively target conversion opportunities either within existing Group relationships or with new strategic partners. Responsible for the understanding of Group(s) account strategy with the ability to influence the optimisation of Customer & Product initiatives and their implementation.
  • Will drive HSSE, volume, profit and working capital efficiency of nominated Group(s) and be responsible for setting clear account plans with a clear roadmap to implement opportunities in a prioritised manner and review and recommend temporary or permanent variations within actions plans to optimise profit.
  • Being responsible for harnessing future bp and key account profitability, delivering mutual business benefits by maximising value extraction for bp whilst building sustainable offers with the Group(s). Understanding Group needs, identifying bespoke sources of value and then formulating offers. Authority to negotiate, financial models and business cases to the required standard with a timely submission for signoff.
  • Work closely with the Acquisition Team and CO transition and divestment teams assisting and supporting the strategic direction for the wider UK business. Take ownership for several related strategic or functionally related projects with ability to influence and persuade key partners and ultimately act as bp's specific point of accountability for the Group(s) for all matters.
  • Lead Groups in a structured way through contact maps and defined Governance processes, ensuring regular involvement, coordination and alignment. Build and handle account relationships at all levels
What we need from you!

Degree or equivalent is preferable, previous operational retail experience required. Shown experience in direct sales or relationship management. Must have proven financial awareness/ability to understand & apply financial modelling tools with strong commercial skills.
Must have ability to operate at a strategic level with 3rd party organizations and form holistic strategic views of each individual business and their direction tailoring the offer accordingly. Track record of delivery of innovative & creative solutions for commercial issues
