An exciting new opportunity has arisen in our Auckland office, that will play a pivotal role in our ANZ fuels pricing strategy.

The Strategic Pricing Lead will support the Fuel Supply & Midstream B2C Pricing team in delivering the advanced pricing agenda and commercial value for bp’s retail portfolio. Working with cross functional input, we are looking for someone who can drive fuel margin and volume optimisation opportunities through bp pricing actions.

In addition, this role will support building pricing capability across the team and will represent the Pricing team in both regional and global pricing forums.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop data based insights informed by market dynamics and competitor landscape to find opportunities and vulnerabilities to optimize volume and margin performance.
  • Identify, pilot and implement margin or volume improvement opportunities via pricing trials to deliver margin and volume goals.
  • Work with ANZ Retail and Loyalty teams to progress both strategic and tactical initiatives to unlock margin and volume growth opportunities.
  • Work with local data science teams to structure, pilot and performance manage sophisticated pricing capabilities and optimization models.
  • Regularly engage with the ANZ mobility & convenience leadership team and finance through regular forums, which foster a One Team approach to performance delivery.
  • Informal leadership of B2C Retail Pricing Advisors to implement the pricing strategy and develop the advisor’s capability to ensure business needs are met.
  • Network across global pricing forums and industry events to continue developing and implementing pricing standard methodologies.
  • Provide fuel sales, fuels margin and halo effect insights to network across key business partners and advise prospective retail site investments, strategic network planning and annual planning.
  • Lead or participate in project work as required.
  • Assist as needed with the implementation of new pricing systems and technology.


Educational & Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree is Required
  • Solid understanding of pricing and the delivery of margin either through previous experience in Pricing or in a role which has strong interface to pricing i.e. Retail, Commercial or Finance (highly desirable)
  • Significant business experience delivering commercial and cross functional impact
  • Shown ability to influence across teams and communicate effectively with senior leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic programs and initiatives
  • Significant experience developing data driven insights
  • Retail operations experience within a retail fuels business
  • Advanced analytics capability
  • Power BI and data visualization familiarity
  • Data science exposure
  • Project Management Experience (preferably Agile)
