Job summary

An integral part of bp’s transition from an International Oil Company to an Integrated Energy Company is the expansion into electrical vehicle (EV) charging markets in key countries across Europe, USA, and AsPac. You will be at the forefront of the biggest change in the automotive industry for a century, playing an important role as we learn and shape the global EV charging markets.

Role Synopsis
The Strategy Analyst is a key role working across both our global e-mobility business (bp pulse) and the group strategy team, helping to drive scale and deliver our external market commitments e.g., targeting at least 100,000 charge-points by 2030.

The selected candidate with develop a deep understanding the market, regional differences and trends. As the go-to person for deep market understanding, they will provide insights to inform strategy development, strategy implementation and business development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor worldwide electrification developments to identify emerging trends and opportunities.
  • Directly support bp pulse strategy development and implementation performance tracking.
  • Work with the other Strategy team members to identify areas of integration across our global portfolio (e.g. hydrogen & renewables), develop country-level strategies and support corporate strategy updates.
  • Collaborate with Competitor Insights to monitor and assess activity by both traditional competitors and new entrants to the market across key geographies of US, China and Europe.
  • Develop models and provide insightful analysis of the impact of emerging trends on mobility value chains.
  • Understanding of market dynamics, pricing, margin and value capture as well as technology developments and the evolution of alliances and partnerships.
  • Collaborate with the stakeholders across bp pulse to strategies in nascent markets, to help shape BD priorities for rapid scale up, troubleshoot implementation and delivery against strategic KPIs
  • Link bp’s strategy with technology insights from the Innovation & Engineering team.
  • Support due diligence and other engagement activities with third parties in support of new business models.
  • Prepare for key forums and support development of roadmaps for select countries
Essential Education: Degree or equivalent experience

Essential Experience and Job Requirements:
  • 5 years of experience (strategy, business development or finance)
  • Highly numerate, analytical, and adept in building Excel models.
  • Entrepreneurial with ideation and offer creation mindset.
  • Hands-on who is comfortable with ambiguity and able to create high-quality “first drafts”.
  • Capable of succeeding in fast-paced environments whilst supporting other colleagues.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships in a multicultural – multidisciplinary environment and communicate across a wide band of levels both within bp and externally.
  • Track record of communicating complex issues to range of stakeholders.
