About the opportunity:
As part of the GTA Phase 1 Project for the operations readiness team in the Mauritania and Senegal region, this role is an exciting opportunity to work in a new region for bp, supporting the installation, commissioning, start-up and stay-up for bp's first deepwater gas to floating LNG Facility globally. During the project execution phase, the Project Subsea Operations Engineer will support the delivery of the operations readiness plan and provide day to day operational input to subsea system equipment testing, offshore commissioning, start-up and stay-up of the field.

This role is based in the UK, however during the commissioning, start-up and early operate phase you will be required to work on the offshore facility in Mauritania and Senegal in a rotational schedule for up to 24 months.

This role offers great development opportunities in the creation of operating procedures and helping implement the operating management systems in a new region for bp. Also, site based opportunities, acting as offshore subsea representative for commissioning, start-up and early operations.

It is recognized that there are significant transferable skills from topsides disciplines such as Instrumentation and Control, Electrical, Process and Mechanical Engineering. Additional support and development in Subsea specific competences will be provided if required.

About the role:
In more detail, some of your key accountabilities will be to:

  • Provide operational input to equipment testing and commissioning
  • Develop subsea operating procedures and provide subsea input to start-up procedures
  • Act as integrator between subsea operations team and the commissioning and start-up teams
  • Provide day to day subsea input to work planning and offshore execution
  • Act as integrator between onshore operations support and offshore execution teams
  • Lead subsea operations input to control of work including development of isolation plans during installation, commissioning and start-up
  • Support the optimisation of subsea activities within the 8Q plan
  • Manage subsea training for offshore team

About you:

You will preferably be degree qualified in a relevant science or engineering discipline and working towards a professional accreditation, such as Professional Engineer or Chartered Engineer.

It would be beneficial that you have:
  • Operational experience of an Oil and Gas asset, preferably with a subsea background
  • Demonstrated ability to network and influence across the organizational boundaries
  • Relevant technical expertise in support of system design and operation
  • Relevant experience in the application of an operating management system.
  • Ability to assess emergent issues, develop a response plan and communicate it effectively
