Job summary

The Survey & Positioning team provide global support to the bp Production & Operations organisation.

Survey and Positioning specialists assure and manage the efficient and reliable positioning of both assets and data, to mitigate operational & business risks associated with a failure of positional integrity. Surveyors combine operational and technical skills to deliver reliable position data in support of hydrocarbon, renewable and Carbon Capture and Underground Storage projects using the most appropriate platforms and technologies for both onshore and offshore projects.

Role
This is an internship role that will support an internal transformation programme to implement new ways of working as we transition to remote and uncrewed vessel operations in support of our low carbon objectives. You will primarily work on a project in support of one of the programme themes to deliver agreed outcomes that are aligned with business requirements. You will also have opportunities work with our global survey and positioning specialists to gain insights into the application of geospatial survey support in a multinational energy company.

Requirements
To apply for this role, youll need to be enrolled in an undergraduate or post graduate course in geospatial survey and either in your penultimate year of study,or in your final year but continuing your education with a masters degree in a related subject in the next academic year.

You will also need to have the following knowledge and skills;

  • Working knowledge of fundamental principals of geospatial survey and measurement uncertainty
  • Awareness of hydrographic survey methods
  • Working knowledge of Geodesy, coordinate reference systems and transformations
  • Introductory knowledge of ESRI platform (Desktop, Server, SDE) and other applicable Geospatial tools such as FME and Blue Marble Desktop
